February 14, 200719 yr Hello.I have recently put a 7600GT video card in my machine and would like some help/suggestions on what to put the settings at in the Nvidia Control Panel in relation to FS9.The system is a P4 2.8 with 1GB RAM and, as mentioned, the video card is a 7600GT.I guess I'm trying to figure out what to set the items such as Anisotropic Filtering, Antialiasing, Conformont Texture, Extension LImit, Force Mipmaps, etc, etc to.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, without changing any settings it seems as if I might be getting less fps than with the ti4600 I took out. Does that seem right to anyone? Thanks!
February 14, 200719 yr I made a similar change, upgrading from a Ti4200 to a 7600GT and have been very happy with the result. FSX had trouble with the Ti4200 and seems just fine with the new card.I mainly fly FS9 and the card works great. On the Ti4200, I was using 2XAA and 4XAF, now I use 4XAA and 8XAF with good results. No other changes from the default settings. The drivers I like, are 91.47.P4 2.8, 1GB RAM. Bert
February 14, 200719 yr Author This would be for FS9 only so I'm not to worried about FSX at this point anyway. What do the AA & AF settings do anyway? I've never understood. Also, what is it about that version of the drivers you like and what is it about the newer ones that you don't?
February 14, 200719 yr In the nVidia Control Panel, create a game profile for FS9 and set AA and AF to anything else, but "Application-controlled". Usually a setting of 4xAA and 4xAF produces the best results. After you do that, disable "Anti-Aliasing" in the FS9 settings.Anti-Aliasing (AA) smoothes the edges of rendered objects and makes them look a lot more realistic and less 'pixely'Anisotropic Filtering (AF) enhances the depth perception by adjusting textures to appear perspectively realistic.Hope this helps,Pat
February 14, 200719 yr Author Antialiasing has always been disabled in the sim itself. I'll give these other settings a try and see what happens I guess. There is also an option in there that says something about SLI settings. It's currently set to multiple monitors even though I only have one. Is this hurting anything? Should I change it to single or does it even matter?
February 14, 200719 yr Single display gets a tiny bit better performance. If you have two monitors, use the multiple monitor option. If you have one, set it to single display. You should disable SLI unless you have two SLI-capable boards in your system.Good luck,Pat
