An old problem manifests-Vista

Featured Replies

I had little problems installing vista ultimate-fsx runs the same if not a little better-I love all the new features-especially after turning off the annoying security prompts. However, an old problem from xp has crept up-my ch usb joystick pedals turn off after about 15 minutes of non use. I have set the "allow the computer to turn this device off to save power to " -"off" yet they still shut down.Anyone have any ideas?Thanks.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

This may be an issue with the motherboard and/or the number of USB devices you have connected to it. How many USB devices are plugged into the system and what are they? Are you using a powered hub?

Might be time to do some testing.Unplug all other devices except the one causing problems. Go fly with it (you might have to set-up some test flight that has AP engaged or you can fly with the keyboard). Then see what that device does as the only device in the system. If it doesn't drop then a powered hub could resolve your problem.Alot depends on just what those 6 devices are as well. This can be a tough problem to sort, only because not all motherboards and USB devices are created equal. :-) But I would first concentrate on this being a power (or lack thereof) issue.Edit: I don't have the Ch manager installedI don't either. I use a Belkin powered hub with my yoke, pedals, 2 printers, and a card reader plugged in. Problem free.

Yes, this is the very issue that kept me away from XP for its first few years of service. In that case for me, it was fixed by one of the CH manager updates that was released.Has CH produced a CH manager version for Vista yet? If so, I'd give that a whirl.Gary
