May 1, 200719 yr Upgraded to the AMD 6000+ this weekend - royal pain in the you know what - but now FSX is flying smoothly. Is there a comprehensive list anywhere of what works and what doesn't with the new sim? Google didn't bring up anything useful. Thanks!Colin in Portland
May 1, 200719 yr I upgraded to an AMD 6000 along with an AM2 board and DDR2 memory three weeks ago. I had an AMD 4800 with a Socket 939 board. However, I have never quite achieved the FSX performance on the new gear that I did on the old. As I am constantly fiddling with FSX to achieve what is, for me, the best balance of performance vs function it may not be the new gear that has caused the problem. There are enough FSX variables to keep anyone amused for the period leading up to SP1. Certainly on benchmarks the new rig out performs the old rig by a clear margin. There is no doubt that the current pricing of the AMD 6000 is aggressive and thus represents good "Bang for Buck". May 1, 200719 yr I wish i had purchased AM2 instead of Socket 939 two years ago, would have made upgrading today much easier :( Matthew S
May 1, 200719 yr 2 years ago AM2 didn't exist making it difficult to acquire one.:) John Rig: Gigabyte B550 AORUS Master Motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT CPU, 32GB DDR4 Ram, Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Graphics, Samsung Odyssey wide view display (5120 x 1440 pixels) with VSYNC on.
May 2, 200719 yr True, can't remember exactly when but not long after I upgraded from P4 to 3500 (socket 939) the AM2 came out... :( Matthew S
