June 30, 200718 yr >Can anyone comment on experience with the new highend Gateway>gaming PC's? Wonder how that route compares with Dell's>highend?I have the FX530XG system with the below specs! It performs very well in FS9 and FSX! I have dual X1950XTX crossfires but I currently operate in non xfire mode! This doesn't effect performance at all in FS as FS doesn't utilize XFire. (Same with Nvidia SLI). If you want to get an idea how this performs in FSX look at my posts in the FSX Benchmark thread further down this forum section!! I can run with 8x AA and 16xAF, by utilising SLI performance mode.Ray Keattch

July 1, 200718 yr You are saying the same thing. You are able to run higher levels of AA/AF because performance is enhanced. Or to put it another way, for the same graphics and high AA/AF settings, the non-xfire configuration will give lower average FPS (ie. lower performance without it). The components used in them is not always the fastest. I'm not saying it's a bad machine, but they tend to use more basic desktop components such as motherboards and chipsets. For example this one your looking at has a G33 chipset. Intel lists that as a mainstream desktop chipset. It won't have the performance as the one in their FX530 line which is the 975X. Of course it doesn't have the price either! I'm not saying don't buy this system, just be aware of what you are getting!! (Same thing goes with Dell retail systems) Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
