how to corectly set my nvidia 8800 gts 640mb control panel

Dose these settings Look Correct? No one can say they look 'correct' because it's a matter of personal taste and wishes, so... ;) And there is no 'wrong' setting, because every possible setting might be right for a given situation! But er... I would set AF to 16x: the 8800GTX can handle that easily and it will improve textures in the distance more. I am not at home right now so I can't check, but can't you set Force mipmaps to trilinear? You might want to test what performance Texture Filtering at High Quality will give you. If you like the Quality setting, you might want to turn both Anisotropic sample optimization and Trilinear optimization On (which you can't do on High quality). Triple buffering should be on, I don't think anyone has that off.In the end you will have to play some games and see if you like what you see (quality and fps), because as I said, it's just a matter of personal taste. ;) And it also depends on the rest of your system of course!

I was going by this geforce guide by korash gohazeqoute:it is recommended you enable Triple Buffering as well. However note that using Triple Buffering may cause problems for graphics cards with lower Video RAM, so disable this option if you

Little addition to that link: with SP1 and the latest official drivers you have to turn FSAA on in FSX, otherwise you'll have no AA.

I stongly disagree. Turn off AA in FSX. No more jaggies here. The only time you should have it on in FSX is if you're running in window-mode. Running full-screen, AA should be off in the game and let the card do the work as it was desinged.

>Little addition to that link: with SP1 and the latest>official drivers you have to turn FSAA on in FSX, otherwise>you'll have no AA.This is wrong. Download nHancer and delete Nvidia's default profile for the sim. Recreate a new one and it will have no such limitation. They set a flag in that default profile that forces AA to the "enhance only" mode, which is why this occurs. If you guys can hold on till later today I'll make an article on proper setup of everything on our PMDG Ops site - it's something I've been meaning to do for a while.

Ryan, have you tried the newest WinXP 32bit (162.18?) beta from Nvidia's website? I read through the release notes and although it said it was "profiles fix" update, I didn't see anything about Flightsim this time aroudn. I'm scared; I don't want to uninstall 162.15 now that I have everything working, LOL... Of course, you know I will, sooner or later...

>If you guys can hold on till later today I'll make an article>on proper setup of everything on our PMDG Ops site - it's>something I've been meaning to do for a while.Er... how long does a day take in your area, Tabs...? :(

Al, a heartfelt "Thank you" for the link.It almost felt like someone flipped the turbo switch on my 8800 GTS. My performance has improved in the range of 30%-50%, not to mention that this tweak has eliminated ALL of my blurries while greatly improving the visual appearance. It is really a shame how a DEFAULT nVidia profile can do so much "damage" to FSX performance. This link is a must for all nVidia 8800 users. Thanks again!Pat

The link mostly seems to be about FSAA not working... But I understand it improved your gameplay overall anyway? I will have to give this a try then. It's very weird all in all because I use almost the same settings: the main difference is I didn't delete the default nVidia profile for FSX.Anyone knows if the page on PMDG Ops is already updated, like Tabs promised? BTW I never like it when topics get moved because people might forget about it...

Pat, you're very welcome. I wish I could take the credit for this but it really must go to Ryan/Tabs. Send him a PM and just say thanks. He likes those. He can usually be found hangin' around the PMDG fourm. I'm just trying to srpead the gospel as it were. :)Actually you're one of the few who have acknowledge this tip, so thank you.Now spread the word. When you tell others, point them to threads like this. All five of my tweaks are in the first reply in this thread here: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&topic_id=27027FSXsp1 + UTX + WoAI + PAI + ASX + XGraphics + FSRealtime + RadarContact + Flightsim Flight Keeper, are all singing in unison now baby...

Yes, you must delete the profile. I was making the same mistake but the part about the deleting the profile is actually fairly new advise. Set it up EXACTLY like Ryan suggests. 8xs, AA of in FSX, etc... Trust Me ;)

I should also say, that I believe the above edits will most likely work for the FS9 OOM and blurry issues as well. Expecially tagging the FS9/X.exe and chaning the boot.ini file to alleviate the OOM CTD issues. And, the deletion and manual recreation of the FS9 and FSX game profiles using nHancer should benefit many other Nvidia cards as well. They may have to turn down a few of the settings though to accomidate the particular cards capabilities.
