Nvidia drivers

Featured Replies

I have recently installed an XFX Nvidia 6800GT video card.I am aware from past experiences that the latest drivers are not necessarily the best. Has anyone had success with a particular version for this card.Richard

I've got a Gainward 6800GS and have tried most of the latest drivers. I always fall back on the good old 71.90 driver as this is actually the only and latest driver where I'm able to set 8x AA without any issues in Fs9.

Many thanks for the response. I have been using 71.89 drivers to run my Nvidia FX5200 card. Like you I always fell back on this set. I have installed 71.90 for the new card and all seems well.Regards Richard.

Richard:What are you PC specs and how much ram in that video card of yours?Once you reverted back to the 71.89 drivers how much of an improvement did you get? What kind of FPS' are you getting before and after?ThanksPaul.

I read a post in Avsim from a chap who had a similar card to mine and similar problem with FS Navigator taking time to load. He installed Omega drivers 16693 and was pleased with the results. I tried the same. Problems solved. These are my specs you asked for:From: CPU 2.8 ghtz, 1gb ram, Nvidia FX 5200 128mb AGP card, 80gb IDE 7200rpm HDTo: CPU 3.ghtz with Zalman cooling, 2gb DDR2 ram, XFX 6800GT 256mb PCIE card with Arctic cooling, 80gb Sata 7200rpm HDThe difference in the performance is amazing. In the past I looked with envy at the framerates being recorded by some simmers. I limit my FR setting to 25. Frame rates hover close to this figure no matter what I seem to throw at it. Many thanks for the responses,Richard

On my card, the newer drivers (162.xx, etc.) give SLOWER texture loading. The older drivers (84.21 that I'm using now) give FASTER texture loading.I don't know why this is, but that's what I have seen on my setup. You might consider older drivers.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian
