November 4, 200718 yr This is the same phenomenon that you see with virtually ANY new computer item that hits the market with great initial reviews and a lot of "buzz." There's a "gotta have it now" crowd that wants the item IMMEDIATELY and is willing to pay a price premium to have it. This typically lasts for a few weeks until the supply vs. demand equation settles down, at which point you'll start to see the price drop to more reasonable levels. I'll go way out on a limb and predict that the "stock" version of the 8800GT will be available for around $200 by the end of the month, with the overclocked versions closer to $250. This type of thing happens all the time in the computer industry.
