December 6, 200718 yr Okay, for some time I've preferred using my joystick for flying over my CH yoke because control was more precise. My yoke is an abomination for elevator control because it gets stuck so small movements are impossible and it doesn't return to neutral. However, I prefer the other controls on the yoke over the joystick. I have tried lubricating the shaft with silicone spray as recommended somewhere with no luck. Finally, I decided to void the warranty and take it apart. What worked, besides some fine sanding the rear portion of the shaft and the sleeve for aileron control, was to remove the rear plastic bushing and replace it with some felt weatherstripping. Now I can smoothly control the elevators with the yoke instead of having to rely on the trim control.Do any others find their CH yokes difficult to use for elevator control or did I just have a bad unit? The fault seemed to be that the rear bushing and the aileron control sleeve on the shaft were immediately adjacent to each other causing a binding on the sliding shaft. Art
December 6, 200718 yr Hi, I think CH yokes sticking in pitch mode is a pretty common problem. I did much of what you did. I took it apart and sanded the shaft and sleeve. I use a grease that is used to lubricate fishing reel gears since it won't hurt plastic. My yoke works pretty well now. That was a good idea you had about replacing the plastic bushing with felt. I wish CH would come up with a better setup for this. I know there have been a lot of complaints.Jim
December 6, 200718 yr Author Thanks for the input Jim. I havn't been hearing any complaints, so I was wondering how global the problem was. I tried the same lubricant as you with no success. The problem is two plastic sleeves that touch each other, and if the touching edges are not exactly machined to mate with each other and align with the shaft there will be binding. Possibly a soft ring between them could correct this as well as the elimination of one.Now flying with: Biostar TF560-A2+, Athlon 64X2-6000+, Geforce 8800GTS-320MB, 500W PSU, 250GB HD, FS2004, UT-USA, ASV6, FSGen, Vista Home Premium Art
December 7, 200718 yr I had the same problem. Tried various things but light sanding and lithium grease is my approach. Also, as a final burnishing I run the yoke in and out with strong downward pressure. The downward is because that is the natural Y pressure direction when moving the yoke. Works fine now. Gave me something to do while FSX wasRegards,Dick BoleyA PC, an LCD, speakers, CH yoke regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
