RAM or Video Card problems

Featured Replies

Not sure how to trouble shoot this one but I'm having two problems and I think it might be either ram or my video card.First let me give you my system, xp sp2/e6850 cpu/ asus P5N32-E SLI mobo/2 gig of corsair ram/GTX 8800 XFX video card.Heres my problems1) when using 3d games I have these little boxes that flash all over the screen and are seen only on some background colors. I've attached a pic.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/184177.jpg2) When I turn on my computer after it has sat unused for awhile and run FS it seems that once it gets warmed up it locks up or sometimes I see a flash of a blue screen and then shuts down. When I restart it every thing works perfect from then on out and never crashes again.Any idea on whats causing this?

Oh yeah, one other thing. I had FSX installed and running fine then one day it just became a slide show to the point of just freezing in the menu window (not to mention I couldnt get it to load a flight). I recently tried to reinstall FSX and it still does it.

What you got for a PSU for all that? Enough? It could be going bad too. Otherwise, I would be monitoring my temps both CPU/GPU as it would indicate failing/inadequate HSF's. As you stated: " once it gets warmed up it locks up ". Are you OC'ing anything, if so - might want to back off and see if it helps. I would also run Orthos or Prime95 and Memtest to see if something is amiss with CPU and/or Ram. Hope it helps.Regards, Kendall#1: [email protected]/Coolermaster HyperTX2 Gigabyte P35-DS3L 4GB Crucial Ballistix Tracers PC6400 Seagate 250GB 7200.10 SATA2 Gigabyte X800XT -Cat 6.12's CH Yoke/Pedals/Saitek Throttle Dual Monitor: Dell 2405/1905 #2: Dell 8400 3.2 H.T. 3GB PC4200 Diamond Xtreme/Logitech X-530's

I have had that with a 7600GT after a year running and inspection by the dealer tells me the GPU Ram. So they swapped the card...I never overclocked the card. Now I am running a 8800GTS/320 on the same powersupply so that wasn't the case...Happy landings.
