February 4, 200818 yr This weekend I was checking for XP updates for my system and on the Microsoft Update page it listed some new Windows drivers for my Saitek X45 snd Pedals that I had not seen before?I had also downloaded the Demo of FSX. So it may be that it had something different for Saitek for FSX? Dont know?Anyhow, after loading it the X45 and pedals would no longer recognize the .dat files of my various profiles !After spending a bunch of time trying to figure it out I finally unistalled all the Saitek drivers and got their latest drivers and software from the Saitek site. I reinstalled, but then had to create new profiles, even though i saved my dat files from my profiles, it didnt like them. And let me tell you, that was the most nerve wracking thing. For example, the #1 rotary nob that I used to use for my pitch adjustment no longer works and when I try to program it, it only sees it as "thrust". This and a bunch of other quirks made me spend hours setting it up again. Loading and reloading test flights to make sure it all worked.I dont know if the newest drivers only work with FSX or what the deal was.But be very careful using these latest saitek windows xp drivers.
February 4, 200818 yr I don't think I would recommend using Microsoft Windows Update for vendor drivers -- better to go to the vendor's site, so you can see if you really want a particular driver. In the case of the X-45, I kind of doubt there is any reason to get new drivers or SST software unless you are using Vista.scott s..
February 6, 200818 yr Something similar happened to me with the X52. You used to be able to map controls to other controls so I did mouse wheel up/down to toggle 1/2. Can't do that in the new version. So after some frustration I discovered you could map keys to mousewheel up/down and I mapped mousewheel to my trim up/trim. Works better now I think. The only reason I upgraded (not broke don't fix it) is because I got the Pro Flight Quadrant and wanted the drivers installed.
February 7, 200818 yr I tried that a bit ago too. Saitek's new programming software does not recognize the old .dat programming files. Big Bummer. I had LOMAC all set up too, with F15 and A10 .dat files. If you are a LOMAC fan, you know that setting up your HOTAS is half the battle. Their old version will still work with the .dat files, but the program won't run on Vista. Catch 22. I miss LOMAC. It's our version of a FPS (First Person Shooter). Guys actually in Russia flying on-line with their Mig 29s, mano-a-mano against my F15. Tried it without my old trusty .dat/X45 setup. Got smeared.
