Milviz to create B737-200
Count me in for the 737-200. Steam gauges and the early avionic computing devices are exciting to me. I'm always expecting LCD displays to freeze up, demand payment or show an ad. Airliner glass cockpits are OK but I can't stand GA glass. Another issue is VOR's are disappearing. It's hard(er) to go VORwhoring now.

Best Jet Fighter for P3D?
I make a program that makes FS scenery destructable* and presents scenarios. Here's the F100D intercepting some anti-ship missiles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqcIwTN_7mk Yes if the missiles reach the cruise liner the scenario is failed. The Bug is incredible but I like 50-60's style jet fighters. *Destructable means they get covered in debris and counted for scoring, but I know of no way to remove the scenery items in FS.

Suggestion if you are trying CoolSky Super MD-80 Pro in V2
I quit using the MD80 years ago because of the memory leak. I was hoping a fixed version would be out by now, plus native P3D support!

Trying to achieve the Dream of Smooth Stutter Free Simming
What finally fixed me was OOM's. I could never let go of "must have highest visual quality." So I would put up with stutters so paused screens would look incredible. Well the OOMs started in P3D. So I tried lowering all my settings. It worked. If I looked closely I can see the difference but the smoothness and reliablity more than made up for it. Virtual cockpit still looks good and terrain looks good. I just wish I had let myself figure this out before. BTW I also did the same thing to FSX and now I don't need all those tweak utilities AND get 30fps. Eye candy is a hard addiction to beat. PC i7 3770 8GB 3.2-3.8 turbo Ghz, 970GTX

Well impressed with the 777 after VAS Test, SS of settings
Ok thanks. Because the stability of the fps is something people sometimes forget to mention. I tried your settings exactly and it's off to a good start. I'll read your guide.

Well impressed with the 777 after VAS Test, SS of settings
Dave, I see you have the frames locked at 30. How steady does it stay there? I came here looking for advice on the 777 because I get 18fps. I'm going to try your settings and see what I get. Thanks!

PMDG J41 vs Majestic DH4 - which is easier to learn?
The Q400 with it's beta mode and tiller makes it much more immersive. The J41 engine fires are talked about like it's a bug - it's more accurate simulation. It was fun to learn about the prop locks and how they work. The Q400 is newer so I say Q. However, the Q400 is incompatible with alot of addons, check first. Get both if possible.

FSX Fiber Accelerator v1.2
I uninstalled 1.2 and went back to 1.1. Yes, the blurries get really bad. The way it works for me is my framerate and smoothness stays high, and scenery gets drawn well if possible. That works for me. Most of the time however everything is good, terrain looks good, fps is good. Please give me a feature in 1.3 that makes it work like 1.1, thanks!

After all these years, finally picked up a Saitek Trim wheel
timers15 replied to a post in a topic in Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etcMy understanding is that it's not like a mouse wheel, but will turn only a certain amount each way. I'm guessing this means the wheel indicates an absolute position? Say the wheel is full up, and the autopilot has trimmed full down. Does that mean once you move the wheel a tiny bit (after ap off) the plane goes from full down trim to full up? (Typical autopilot/trim wheel problems) I'd be curious to hear what you think, thanks!

Can't see flaps or speedbrakes move ?
Use FSRecorder. It records all the animations and has much better control etc.

Heads up for nvidia users
Ok I tried the new drivers, fsx framelock, and nvidia inspector vsync divider. I really thinks it's alot smoother. I was too fast on approach today and marvelled at the smoothness as I was doing energy waste turns. Normally I have my scenery off for jets but I turned it all the way up and locked at 15 fps. It was a trip seeing the little houses get bigger in the 737. Looks good so far, I'm going to test more.

Which Control Yoke
I love Saitek but had a bad experience with them on the yoke. I got the yoke and loaded it up with the instrument panels. Flying became more of a battle with the yoke that anything else. Finally, I discovered the instrument panels were causing stutters. Right now the yoke is gutted so I can use it's throttle quadrant. The instrument panels are collecting dust but when I have time I'm going to take another look at them.I tried the CH ones at the flight training lab at my college and they er, have good vacuum if you know what I mean :)Next time I'm going with those fancy $500 special made ones. Precision flight? Don't remember who makes them but they really look good.

737NGX vs 747-400 vs JS4100 FPS
I think it's more a matter of whether you like turboprops. If you do, the JS4100 is certainly the best one out there.Tim D.

4096 in th cfg keeps going back to 1024 can you help.
I start with a batch file that copies the config in each time I start FSX. Also I copy pretty much every other config file, so I can mess around all I want without worrying about making a bad setting stick. Also I use the F1 DLL loading program too. I'll bet someone has made a FSX launcher that handles this nicely. Tim D.

Thrust & Horsepower
Another interesting thing I did once was take a helicopter shaft horsepower and max hover weight. Turns out it's a close relation to the horse power required by a winch (theoretical winch that is ) to heft that weight at 1 G.It's been a while but I know there was an issue with converting SHP to watts etc. Tim Dobrowolsky.

Thrust & Horsepower
Oh what a fun topic. :) One definite fact is that if you have a 120000 lb airplane in level flight 120000 lbs worth of air is being shoved down at 1 G. The extra energy to hold the plane in the sky comes from the air collapsing in the wake of the plane. Some bizarre vortex swirls around the wings where the wings are the axis. The radius of this is the same as the wing span. This is what causes ground effect - the vortex kinda of ducts with the ground. Most importantly Newton is happy. It took me years to figure this out. I still haven't met a physics instructor who understands this. Their usual line is "Bernoulli Principle".After I invent time travel and killer cyborgs Mr. Bernoulli's getting a surprise - for no other reason than to simplify this discussion in the future. Ticket submission working?
I'm trying to submit a ticket but when I hit submit it just sits there. Same thing happens when I try to view tickets. When should I try again? Thanks Tim Dobrowolsky

Situation after the hotfix
I'm still having the panel freeze, but it was too late to submit a coherent ticket. I'll be doing that tonight.I only get an hour or two of game time a night so this is tough for me, however I can't stop playing with it so ok.And it works great until the freeze so it's not all lost time.I don't know if it matters but because of kids I have to hit pause and use time compression alot.

Zone Temp warning light
I think it's trying to tell us it can't keep the temperatures you selected. I think this is because low bleed during idle and low air flow through the "radiators". Sorry I know radiator isn't the right term but that's what it does.Ram air normally removes the heat, which there isn't alot of during taxi/idling. Maybe the big yellow tube thingy is pushing air through it? I'm going to do some reading...

SSD DISK how many of you
If you want a sample of how it will look, load up a flight while observing the speed.Exit FSDo the same thing over again. If you have enough memory, everything is cached and you'll see basically what an SSD would do in that stituation.I have 4GB and that trick works. - If your drive is making lots of clicking clunk noises (seeking) that will be solved. I noticed even after defragging the disk activity during loading was ridiculus.- It won't help stutters.- Product installation and other maint is like 20 times faster. Nice, yes. Useful, yes. Needed at those prices? No.I mainly bought mine out of interest. Of course it went to FS. :) Tim D.

Panel and airfraft freeze.
Hey! I loaded a flight I made because was nervous. I got it to happen imediately with a saved flight!I loaded the 900 Continetal model. Loaded the saved flight.Went into FMC and selected a STAR and fiddled a bit. Bam!3 of my 4 freezes were in FMC now setting up STAR.It's late but I'll try again soon.

Panel and airfraft freeze.
Out of 5 flights 3 have frozen. Frozen means displays don't work, control surfaces don't move. However FSX keeps working.First I eliminated all programs except for ASE. One freeze was with ASE one was without.Flight plans varied, KPITKBWI, KBGRKBWI, that doesn't seem related.I did use FSC to create flightplans, and sometimes FSX. Each had instances of working and not working.I deleted my FSUIPC.cfg file as stated. I'm XP64, ASUS P5Q-E, 4 GB Ram, 3.00 Ghz 9650 Intel, GTX580. Saitek: X52, Proflight throttle and yoke/throttle combo. Intel 160GB SSD.I did copy in the latest FSUIPC from Pete Dowson. This is a dedicated OS and drive for FSX. If anyone has any questions please ask. And yes, this plane is beyond amazing. PS: Last time after trying to reload the flight over and over, I bluescreened with Kmixer.sys Anyone tried disabling sound during a test? Can't bring myself to do it :)

Getting Back to FSX After A Break - Compilation of Links / Information?
Holy Water will help too. While part of me enjoys the never ending tweaking, just ... argh.Got a 580GTX and discovered that not using the external limiter was better.Unfortunately you have to methodically proceed and test each tweak.

Please recommend me an A320 for FSX
I like the Aerosoft 320. However what Mike T said is true, there's lots of people who can't get the throttle working. My throttles worked right out of the box, even without the suggested procedure. It's a lite plane, except it does try to do the FBW. Not perfectly, but it does it. As in you have to work with it a little bit to get it's pitch to stick. The price is a little questionable but I was desperate. :)
