March 19, 200818 yr Hello allI asked a few months ago what you guys would suggest for a new home built computer, I got a lot of good advice, Thanks.I dont know if things have changed that much since then and Im not in any real hurry to buy.Im looking to spend between $1000-1500, I want to get the biggest bang for the buck, and would appreciate any advice or suggestions.Currently running Dell 8400 P4 3.2 Geforce 6800, Old stuff but still works good. Thanks in advance,Jerry
March 19, 200818 yr Mine, I got for about $1400, and it has all the best bang-for-the-buck parts in it. You might want to follow those lines and see if you can get something like mine, probably with some newer and better parts.Regards, Regards, BoeingGuy ASUS P5E X38 | Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.2 GHz on 1600 MHz FSB (400x8) | 4 GB DDR2-800 RAM | EVGA GeForce 8800 GT Superclocked @ 679/979 | 320 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 RPM HD
March 20, 200818 yr Author Thanks BoeingGuyThanks for your reply, I really appreciate your help. I dont know much about overclocking but want to get a system like yours and try it.What kind of frame rate do you get with FSX, FS2004?Thanks againJerry
March 20, 200818 yr Hey FS9 will run heaps better on any machine you get as it was designed on older hardware so runs good now. Just make sure you get a video card with 512 meg ram, mine has 320 and it tends to run out which is causing me a FPS hit with lots of ai in FSX. Just get fastest cpu you ca nafford, 3gig if possible, then 2 gig ram minimum and 512 meg videocard.
March 20, 200818 yr Hi Jerry,In FS2004, I get 30-70 FPS on the ground in major airports in major cities with plenty of clouds and weather acting up, with every setting checked and sliders all the way to the right (including Cloud/Object Draw Distance and Traffic), and with FSX, I get 15-30 FPS on the ground, 60-100+ FPS in the air with Light Bloom off and most settings on high, including Traffic. Bloom takes away about 10-20 FPS.No problem, Regards, Regards, BoeingGuy ASUS P5E X38 | Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.2 GHz on 1600 MHz FSB (400x8) | 4 GB DDR2-800 RAM | EVGA GeForce 8800 GT Superclocked @ 679/979 | 320 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 RPM HD
