  1. I should have mentioned i found this over on the Guru of 3d forums Video Cards, Nvidia Drivers Section I tried it and it worked great for me, blacker blacks and brighter whites and colors are more vivid Good luck
  2. This is only for nVidia users who are using HDMI on their display. If you're display supports Full RGB, which most do, you may notice you aren't getting the right colors and the blacks don't seem so black and the whites don't seem so white. This is because despite under Display->Adjust Desktop Color Settings your digital color format being set at RGB, its actually by default set at Limited RGB, not Full. And you will see there is no option for Full RGB. Don't use ycbcr444 as it will oversaturate reds and magentas. Full RGB is available only under Video->Adjust Video Color Settings, but this doesn't affect your games, applications, etc. Only videos. The trick to enable Full RGB for everything is a reg hack, and luckily you can use a tool to do instead. Find it here You must use this tool every time you install a new driver. Next, complain to nVidia to let this be a option in future drivers here: http://surveys.nvidia.com/index.jsp?...f07694a40f8ac6
  3. Thanks very much for your help guys!!!I messed around with nhancer and global settings FSX works ok now.I hope its a driver issue and Nvidia fixes it soon. But FSX does work now and im very happy with my new system. Thanks so much for your help guys,Jerry

  7. Thanks BoeingGuyThanks for your reply, I really appreciate your help. I dont know much about overclocking but want to get a system like yours and try it.What kind of frame rate do you get with FSX, FS2004?Thanks againJerry
  8. Hello allI asked a few months ago what you guys would suggest for a new home built computer, I got a lot of good advice, Thanks.I dont know if things have changed that much since then and Im not in any real hurry to buy.Im looking to spend between $1000-1500, I want to get the biggest bang for the buck, and would appreciate any advice or suggestions.Currently running Dell 8400 P4 3.2 Geforce 6800, Old stuff but still works good. Thanks in advance,Jerry
  9. Thanks guys for your helpI'm looking over the options you suggested, good advice, I think building my own system is the best option. I was wondering what kind of performance increase I would get with the systems you pointed out compared to my dusty old rig. With my Dell I can get 20fps locked with med to low settings(with blurries), 10-15fps at large airports, cities. I don't mind so much because I usually fly in rural areas. (Eastern South Dakota)Anyway thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!And sorry for posting in the wrong forum?Jerry

  12. Hello everyone, I don't post here much but I have visited this forum everyday for years now, and appreciate all the helpfull information.I currently have a Dell 8400, P4 3.2GHz 800-MHz FSB, 2GB-533MHz ram, Geforce 6800 vanilla, 2x75GB WD raid 0, + 320gb sata drive.I have about $1000-1500 to spend and since my Dell has never caused me any trouble I am looking at another Dell. I think I have enough experience to build my own machine but don't know where to start.Dell is all I have had experience with besides the local stores that seem overpriced.I dont know if now is a good time to buy because DX10,Vista being new and buggy. Should I wait until next year? Vista, DX10, improvements?I use my computer for flightsims, FSX, FS2004, and many combat sims.I just want to get the best machine for my money.I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks for your time and for all the help I've gotten from AVSIM.Jerry
  13. I have been flying MSFS since commodore-64 days, back then I was getting -2,-3 frames per second and was lucky to land within 3 or 4 miles of an airport. I feel so fortunate to be able to use FSX and comparing the old with the new is so incredible, I cant wait to see future releases of Flight Simulator.Anyway I purchased FX Acceleration and all I can say is thank you, you and your team have really done a great job fixing-upgrading FSX.It runs and looks better than ever. Good work!!!THANK YOU!!!!!From one happy simmerJerry Graslie

  16. Hello everyone, first of all I would like to thank everyone here for shareing information and opinions about fsx and the other sims.My question is, is there a way to fly outside the atmosphere with FSX, or is there an aircraft in the library with a rocket control system like they use for the shuttle or x-15. I can get to 300,000+ ft. but just fall back to earth. I dont recall seeing anything that can do this. Thanks,Jerry

I had this problem and did get it fixed but it took some timeHere is the fix: also search forum for "Shader model 2.0" by cbuchner1 Another thread highlighted the possibility to disable Shader model 2.0 pixel and vertex shaders to get "FS9" like performance with FSX.Two options were mentioned:1) globally disabling shaders 2.0 and above using the RivaTuner software2) hacking display.cfg in the Flight Simulator X folder by inserting this under the entry for your graphics card:Shader20Plus=0UseShaders=0Following that, some people experienced all-white runway and taxi signs as well as glitches regarding wing flex on some aircraft models. Other people could not even find the appropriate section in display.cfg because their graphics card was not listed. In this post, I am going to elaborate more on the possibilities that you have with display.cfg and how to add a section that matches your graphics card explicitly. We are also going to use settings that WILL keep your signs readable and the wing flex working while still providing some performance boost. Ready for this?First of all, see if your graphics card model is already listed. If so, that's fine - but if not, we are going to add a new section. First, you need to find out the PCI manufacturer and device ID for your particular model. Open your "System" Control panel and activate the Device Manager under the "Hardware" Tab. Expand the "Display Adapters" tree, select your graphics card and use the right mouse button to open the context menu. Select "Properties". Select the "Details" tab and look at the string presented below. It should look something like this (this example is for my Geforce 7800 GS AGP)PCI/VEN_10DE&DEV_00F5&...Look at the 4 letters and numbers following VEN_ and DEV_. These identify your particular hardware. So I created a new entry in my display.cfg in the Nvidia section right after the first (generic) NVidia entry. Notice that I copied the 4 letter vendor ID right after the first leading 0000, and the device ID right after the 0000's following the colon. So this section will only match your particular Gfx card.;----------------------------------------------------------------------; NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS (AGP);----------------------------------------------------------------------<000010DE:000000F5:nv4_disp.dll>Shader20Plus=13UseShaders=1So what about this number following Shader20Plus ? Why the 13?It is a number that specifies the maximum permissible shader model inside the simulator. I got this from a (largely ignored) post in another thread suggesting to put a "10" here. This posting suggested that this is not simply an on/off switch but actually specifies a limit for the shader model version. Such version specifiers are often used in DirectX API programming - so his post actually made sense to me (being a programmer). A 10 would specify shader model 1.0 or lower (actually 1.0 is considered deprecated now and has been superseded with 1.1). I know most Nvidia cards support shader model up to 1.3 - Their 6xxx series DirectX 9 compatible cards also support 2.0, some GeForce 7xxx series cards even shader model 3.0ATI is slightly different in that respect that they support up to model 1.4 (all DirectX 8 based gear, e.g. Radeon 9200 and 9500) and 2.0 beginning with Radeon 9700, 9800 Shader model 3.0 is available in all the X series cards from ATI.So if you own nvidia, put 13 into Shader20Plus. If you own ATI, put 14 into Shader20Plus. I am not sure if Microsoft actually has 1.4 optimized shaders but we might as well specify the "right" shader version anyway.Leave UseShaders at 1, otherwise you would lose Vertex shaders that will be used for wing flexing and other animations. Now that we limit ourselves to shader model 1.3 or 1.4, you should set your water detail to "High 1.x" to get at least some water effects with shaders. You should have working runway signs, working wing flex, a generally an improved simulator performance now. It made the thing actually playable on my 7800 GS AGP model. I hope this guide was useful to you. Please report if this works for you.Seems complicated but it does workHope this helpsJerry
  18. Thanks for all the hard work, with the tweaks and mods I went from 6-15 fps max to an average 25-35 and up.Thanks to you I can now enjoy FSX liked I never thought possible on my pre-Vista, DX10 system. Thanks again to all of you who have shared your time and help.Jerry
  19. HiHope this helps this is what I did as explained by cbuchner1Your Device Instance Id:PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0091&SUBSYS_81D41043&REV_A14&243D7BD0&2&0070You just add 4 0's before the 10DE and 0091 and then the nv4_disp.dllYou would end up with this if you have a Nvidia card:000010DE:00000091:nv4_disp.dllThis is what I used for my Nvidia 6800:;--------------------------------------------------------------------; NVIDIA GeForce 6800 (PCI);--------------------------------------------------------------------000010DE:000000C1:nv4_disp.dllShader20Plus=13UseShaders=1Hope this helps, it's not that hard if I can figure it outThanksJerry
  20. Forgot to mention what works now1. runway and taxi signs2. wing flex3. bridges4. cockpit glass textures5. wheels on airport vehiclesThis is just what I know about may be more fixed? Thanks againJerry
  21. Thanks for the tweak I now have everything working like normal and at FS9 performance.I was totally dissapointed with FSX DX9 default performace and hope it will keep getting better, Vista,DX10,.ect.Thanks again for your tweaks and all the other tweaks here your help is greatly appriciated. Thanks again,Jerry
  22. Thanks for your help LoydI didnt know it was so complicated to add engine smokeI will try your tips and see what happensThanks againJerry
  23. HelloI am trying to add smoke effects to the Coral F-15 and Viper F-16 aircraft with no luck. I get smoke when pulling high g's or if I hold the "I" key down but that's it. I'm not sure there is suppose to be any in real life but I thought it would be cool.Anyway I was wondering if there is a simple answer or a tutorial on how to edit the aircraft.cfg and or the panel.cfg.Appreciate any help!!!ThanksJerry
  24. Sorry for not searchingJust got over excitedThanks, and again next time I will do a thorough searchHope some good will come out of this discoveryJerry
  25. HelloI do the whole DriverCleanerPro..etc that you described only because I think it's the safest most relible way to do it.I had problems once in a while installing drivers using the quick method. Why take unnecessary chances and wonder if it's the driver or just the way you installed them?I guess it may be old fasion nowThanks,Jerry
