Multi monitor question

Featured Replies

Hi, I have FSX Acceleration installed on a Vista 32 bit machine which is patched with Vista SP1. I am running an ATI 3870 with a 22 inch wide screen montior set to monitor number 1 and a 19 inch set to monitor 2. Every time I start FSX it uses monitor 2 as the primary. Is there some way to force it to start up in monitor 1 so I do not have to immediately start moving windows around? Thanks,Barry

If you right click on your desktop and select display settings you will see both monitors. You will also see a check box stating 'use this as my primary monitor'. Just highlight the monitor you require and check that box and apply settings. That should do it.

Under Vista, the choice is "This is my main monitor" and Monitor 1, the wide screen 22 inch unit, is selected. Still starts up on Monitor 2 which is perplexing to say the least.Barry

In that case go to the ati control panel and look under the multi monitor options. I don't have an ati card but nvidia control panel has multi monitor options so I assume ati has too.

The Catalyst Control Pannel does not control which monitor is the primary pannel. It is not a setting option. The drivers pull the OS setting. FSX is the only application that starts on the secondary LCD pannel. Every game I have starts on the LCD 1 except FSX.

Why not just swap the monitor plugs on the video card sockets. One socket will always the native primary monitor plug and the other socket the secondary. This works on my Nvidia/2 monitor setup.
