April 16, 200818 yr Before I begin, sorry for my bad,BAD english!!This is my doubt.I am about to buy a nem machine. Today, I have a notebook with a Turion processor that is not capable to run the FSX.I am looking for a new notebook capable to run the FSX on a pretty way! Those are the finalist:Alien Ware :- Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme X9000 2.80Ghz 8MB cache- 4 GB Memory DDR2- 200gb Hard Disk 7200 RPM 16MB- Nvidia 8800 GTX 512 MB (Dedicated)- 1GB Intel Turbo MemoryHP :- Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5Ghz 6MB Cache- 4 GB Memory DDR2- 160gb Hard Disk 7200 RPM 16MB- Nvidia 8600 GS 512 MB (Dedicated)I know that the alienware is the best one, but my real question is if the HP is capable to give me fun in the FSX!The diference on the prize its BIG! About US$ 2000!And my secound question is ,pehaps ,the most stuppied question :When Microsoft its planned to release the FS XI? They gonna keep the diference of three years as on the FS9 to the FSX? Because if they back to the diference of Two years, next year its the year of FS XI! So ,if a boght any one of those machine's now, i think that i gonna make a BAD, BAD, BAD AND BAD deal!!!!I really need some help.Thanx!!!Best regards to all!
April 16, 200818 yr Well unfortunately the most expensive laptop you can buy will do the best for FSX. FSX eats CPU cycles like mad. The more MHz, the betterI really don't have a clue about those two processors thoughIf you want to run FSX half-decently, you'll need to get that faster one... :(With regards to the 2nd question, It will be released after Train Simulator 2, which Phil said is coming sometime in 2009. No one really knows for sure when FS11 will come, a lot speculate 2011. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 16, 200818 yr Daniel,At the end of the month (Apr), after my salary has been paid, I'm going to order a DELL XPS 1730 Laptop with a T9300 processor, 8700M GT graphics card, 2GB RAM and Windows XP.I hope to get it by the middle of May, so will be able to report back on how well it runs FSX, if you can wait that long!RegardsJim
April 17, 200818 yr Make sure you can over clock the processor and you should be in the fair range for FSx......

The CPU makes more diference (a lot of diference) than GPU.But, if a bought the alienware, a bet that i have to buy a new one when microsoft release FS XI!Thanx!

April 17, 200818 yr DanielTo make it short:Laptop/notebook = LESSER performance in FSXdesktop = DECENT performance can be had.As was said by others, just something to consider.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
May 14, 200818 yr Well,It's a DELL..so it's got more bloatware than you can shake a stick atT9300 @ 2.5 GHz, 2GB RAM @ 667Mhz, nVidia 8700MOn Med settings I get about 2-12 fpsOn Low/Med-Low settings 5-20 fps depending where I am but mostly around 12 fps so still a bit of a slide show.f you want better fps than this you'll need the Alienware. But if it's just to practice you can turn the sliders right down. With everything on minimal or sparse I get 50-80 fpsInstruments run smoothly, no stutters or blurries so the T9300 is OK if you don't mind flying over a sparse landscape with few buildings and minimal water effects. It's good for practcing instrument procedures. With a bit of tweaking you could improve the scenery and stay above 20fps. Haven't had time to tweak myself but the T9300 will certainly give acceptable performance.Jim
