April 18, 200818 yr Dunno how it developed, but despite XP defrag and PerfectDisk's boot sector defrag, nothing was speeding up the last seconds of boot time on my newer XP installation. The taskbar would load, but there was something slowing down the final loading of tray icons and so forth. I then discovered MS' utility, Bootvis.exe, of which XP is supposed to incorporate the optimization routine that is in that program--NOT! Anyway, ran the optimization routine and voila, instant loading of tray icons and much faster boot time. I believe it just locates all the files and services involved in boot up and optimizes their positions on the disk, which i thought PD would do but clearly didn't. Anyway, you can get it from this link:http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/BootVis/4-19687-1.htmlCheers,NoelQX9650 w/ Retail HSF|8GB Muskin PC-6400|ASUS P5E|EVGA 8800GT @700|Seagate SATA 2 x 4|Seagate Cheetah 15K.x|XP Pro|Vista 64--soon to be installed Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. April 18, 200818 yr Noel, very old newsFYI - You dont need BootvisAll you have to do is run the following command line:START - RUN - in the box:rundll32 advapi32,ProcessIdleTasksClick OKWait 20 seconds and rebootThat is part of my optimize list http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/Ya...197380641/15#22and works best when the boot optimize system is DISABLED in Windows allowing O&O Defrag to use LAYOUT.ini to place the boot filesMy list is designed to eliminate all the wait states in Windows. it is critical the list is followed to the letter :)

April 18, 200818 yr Author Thanks, but it was welcomed news to me with this annoying issue developing recently.Nick, seriously, is there any DDR2 that will get the CALWI I would need to appreciate meaningful practical differences over my current config? If I look at this narrative, I would definitely say it completely describes my experience:"Flight Synopsis: Smooth, sharp detailed flight, little or no blurs or stutters. Autogen speed/volume was quick to appear in the distance, terrain textures maintained their 1m LOD within the defined boundary and distance visuals were clear. A few very minor stutters and distance blurs were noted (recovered quickly) when approaching/crossing large scenery changes (two areas) and high disk access was invoked, otherwise no stutters were observed anywhere else. The aircraft responded as if it were floating gracefully on air as it should."Hopefully you don't believe I am fabricating this. And I know when you critiqued my posted prints as "anyone can do this if the capture is static, etc . . ." It wasn't static! It was a genuine, on the fly capture. I don't know why it is as good as it is. So, to get truly optimized perf, do you think it would be smartest to wait til I have a way to pawn off my mainboard and memory and start over? I keep thinking any DDR2 that is not rediculously pricey like the 2GB of corsair at $600+, and maybe even it, will not do that much for me. Had I understood your arguments when I was purchasing I very certainly would have optimized the memory and not held back. I have the $$ that was not the issue, but as I had said it just didn't seem like an important consideration . . .QX9650 w/ Retail HSF|8GB Muskin PC-6400|ASUS P5E|EVGA 8800GT @700|Seagate SATA 2 x 4|Seagate Cheetah 15K.x|XP Pro|Vista 64--soon to be installed Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync.
