Opinions on the Following Rig

Featured Replies

Well as my current motherboard won't support multiple video cards and I want to add a third monitor, I was looking around at the options and saw some good looking rigs from iBUYPOWER.Does anyone have any opinions on these? Particularly the http://www.ibuypower.com/ibp/store/configurator.aspx?mid=135As I have my monitors and peripherals, I really just need the motherboard, compatible RAM, and case with power. I want to image my current SATA HD to the new one as I have no desire to give up XP.Thanks.John

Do you already have the cpu?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Yes, I could use my existing CPU but I don't mind getting a newer one.John

You don't say what your cpu is. I assume it's an AMD 4000+ or higher, given the link you posted is for an AMD motherboard. It all depends on how much your existing cpu is to you. You realize, Intel has the lead on AMD right now. Even so, there are some very nice bargains to be had with AMD cpu's right now.Depends on what exactly your cpu is; I wouldn't want less than a 5000+ to run FSX if I were re-building. Grant you, I run an overclocked 3700+ but it is about the lowest-spec I would want for FSX.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

>I want to image my current SATA HD to the new one as I have no >desire to give up XP.Since you will be changing the motherboard, you will not be able to simply image your exsisting hardrive to your new rig and expect it to boot. You would be much better off starting with a clean install of the OS followed by the updating of all of your drivers.
