Artifacts with recent video card?

Featured Replies

Weird colors with fairly new video cardI've only been getting this with BF2, but I do play it for hours at a times. Is this called artifacting? My default fan temps were 28%, but I used riva tuner to turn them up to 50, now I turned them to 75, hopefully that will fix itartifacts.jpg

Ryan,That kinda looks like the old Nvidia FSX purple water bug even though your playing BF2.Does it take a longtime for this to manifest or does it only happen within a ceratin climate (weather) depicted in game?

Hi again, this is still happening to me as of todayA quick summary of the original issue:Battlefield 2 and Half life 2 type games are the most problematic. After a random amount of time my screen will freeze and I get either GREEN or PURPLE or both colors splashed across my screen, almost like someone spilled paint on it.I thought it was a temp issue (default fan speed was 28%). So I cranked the fan using Riva tuner up to 65%. The problem went away for a month or two. Then it came back :( BTW the temps rarely go above 50C even if I play for 3 hrs etc...I thought it might be a PSU issue - but I checked and my PSU 12v rail amperage is good to go for this card.It seems quite random. I can't say when it will happen. It can happen after 10 minutes, or 2 hours.I've tried a few different drivers. No change. I use nHancer and I've set the profile for BF2 to "application pref" as well as setting it with nHancer to forced AA and AF levels. Changing levels doesn't help either... 4x, 8x, 16x AA whatever, still happens. Never had a problem with FSX, and I can play Crysis for a long time and never had any problems with that.I've done a lot of image searches in google for "artifacts." Artifacts are not what I am seeing here. Artifacts are usually odd polygons shooting out from a rendered object to infinity etc. I don't get those. So I'm not calling this artifacting. Of all my searches I've yet to find a picture like mine. Very very odd.Anyone know of this occurrence or have friend who wrote about it somewhere, on some forum?Still looking for help....thanks!
