May 1, 200818 yr Hi Gang! OK, I have 2 19" CRTs and 1 17" LCD. My main rig is listed below, in addition to that I have:P4 3.0 GHz on FIC Intel 865 MOBOXFX 7950GT 512MB at AGP 8x2 GBs PC-2700 RAMandP4 2.0 GHzXFX 7600GT 256MB2 GBs PC-2100 RAMI want to use the 19" CRTs side-by-side with the 17" LCD above them.I'd like to utilize the spare computers as in a Wideview config. However, I'm not sure whether Wideview will work for what I want to do. Plus I can't afford to buy 2 more copies of FSX right now. So, I'm wondering if TH2G is the route I should pursue.I'd like to have the Captain's Panel in the left monitor; FO Panel in the right monitor and the overhead panel in the 17" LCD up top. I'd like this to be in VC mode and have them pan view when I look around if possible.I'd like opinions about possible configurations using the equipment I have, set up the way I described, from the banks of knowledge on this forum. I enjoy the discussions on this forum and trust the opinions from the kind people on this forum and that is why I'm asking here. So, if you have any ideas or would like to share info on your setups I would greatly appreciate it and highly regard any info shared here. May 2, 200818 yr Kail:Have you heard about the Matrox system? http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/prod.../th2go/home.phpI run 3 19" monitors side by side, and I still have a second video card output jack to hook up a fourth monitor if I want. My friend does it this way, and uses the 3 19's for his outside view, and a 24" in the center below to display his 2 D panel. Very impressive, realistic, and easy on frame rates using modern dual core machines and higher-end graphics cards. He and I are both only using one graphics card each.Hope this helps,http://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD PowerSpec G426 PC running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS, Intel Core i7 11700K @ 3.60GHz 30 °C, 4089MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 , ASUS TUF Z590-Plus Gaming motherboard, Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD, Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD, Acer Predator X34 34" curved monitor (external view), RealSim Gear G-1000 avionics suite, RealSim Gear GNS 450, Slavix Stay Level Custom Metal Panel, Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Redbird Alloy THI, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals.
May 2, 200818 yr Author Alex, Sounds very cool! Thanks for the heads up. Are you able to set TH2Go to have all monitors showing an inside view and all pan around in sync when you look around in the VC?I'm just trying to figure out the best way to make use of the extra components I have laying around before wifey asks me to be rid of the clutter :DThank you for your help Alex I appreciate it. And, now I'm off to the link in your post to do some digging :)KailFlightSimmer since 1987C2D E6850 3.0GHz 1333FSBXFX Nforce 680i LT SLI2x XFX 8800GT 512MB SLI'd2GB Crucial Ballistix PC6400 800MHzCreative SB Audigy2 ZSUltra Xfinity 600W SLI PSUSeagate 320GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA-3GB/S HDWindows XP SP2 / FSX SP2 / FS9 SP1 Thanks for listening, Kail
May 2, 200818 yr Kail- I think the other Alex's suggestion for TH2GO is a good one if you want a virtual cockpit multi mon setup. If the setup is 2D, there is a problem with displaying both Captain & First Officer panels- in that a big chunk of the 2D FO panel usually duplicates a portion of Captain panel. It would be nice if the developers corrected this for us multi mon simmers- so we could lay out the true full width panel across 2 monitors.Awhile back, I did some experimenting on this by hiding the duplicated FO panel portions with popups. The screenshot shows the result. I've given up on this for now,and display only Captain 2D panel on the left plus all popups on the right mon.Of course and most important- My 3 mons display synchronized LFwd,Fwd,RFwd views for a panoramic Field of View of about 150
May 2, 200818 yr Kail-Yes, in VC mode you get one contiguos view that pans perfectly with a hat switch and the Track IR device too. Works really well. It's fantastic to either pan or turn your head and look out the FO's side windows on a right base turn to final....makes those turns to final that much more accurate when you can see where you want to go. If you give me an email address, I can send you a few screenshots from the Matrox view. They're too large to post in the forums.Cheers,Alexhttp://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD PowerSpec G426 PC running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit OS, Intel Core i7 11700K @ 3.60GHz 30 °C, 4089MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 , ASUS TUF Z590-Plus Gaming motherboard, Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD, Samsung 750 EVO 500GB SSD, Acer Predator X34 34" curved monitor (external view), RealSim Gear G-1000 avionics suite, RealSim Gear GNS 450, Slavix Stay Level Custom Metal Panel, Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Redbird Alloy THI, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals.
May 2, 200818 yr Kail- Just dug out this old pic which will give you a good idea of what can be done with 2D multi monitors. No panning or zooming needed!(the left CRT has since been replaced with an LCD to save space- it colour matches perfectly with the remaining CRTs.)Alex ReidPMDG 737 KSFO-CYVRhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/188303.jpg
May 2, 200818 yr Kail,I have a very similar set upX6800, EVGA 680i, 2GB 1066MHz, 2xEVGA 8800GTX, Win XP.Your system should easily cope with 3 or 4 monitors: disable the SLI and don't bother with the TH2Go. The TH2Go is great for a wide VC view..but by the sounds of it that's not what you want.Run your L & R Cockpit views off the primary card with the 2 monitors set to Span mode so you've essentially got a ultra wide 'single' monitor 2560x1024. Run your outside view off the secondary card in either Cockpit or Virtual Cockpit mode.In your Windows Display properies place the 3rd Monitor above the other 2 so that mouse tracking is intuative. Alternatively you don't have to span your monitors you can just place 1,2 & 3 in their relative positions. However, I find I get better Framerates by spanning.RegardsJim
May 2, 200818 yr Author Excellent information guys, I really appreciate your help!Do you have to have the monitors lined up next to eachother or can it be set up to have 2 side by side and 1 sitting centered on top of the 2. The reason I ask is because I'm confined to an armoire that I can only fit the 2 19" CRTs side by side. Email is [email protected]. I'd love to see those pics Alex!Thank you again for your responses guys.KailFlightSimmer since 1987C2D E6850 3.0GHz 1333FSBXFX Nforce 680i LT SLI2x XFX 8800GT 512MB SLI'd2GB Crucial Ballistix PC6400 800MHzCreative SB Audigy2 ZSUltra Xfinity 600W SLI PSUSeagate 320GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA-3GB/S HDWindows XP SP2 / FSX SP2 / FS9 SP1 Thanks for listening, Kail
May 2, 200818 yr Kail-Jim Cooper's reply shows that physical monitor locations can be as varied as needed. (above/below/side by side etc) Dragging the monitor setup icons to match the physical layout ensures that the mouse cursor follows the mouse motion exactly as if the monitors were one big desktop. So by all means, stack your third mon above- but be aware that it won't really be useful for a third VIEW.A couple of years ago when I relocated my setup, the new space (48" wide exactly), precluded using the old Left CRT. The solution was to replace it with an LCD, angled toward me at 45
May 2, 200818 yr Author Excellent info as always and nice pics. Now I have some ideas to experiment with. I didn't realize you couldn't use multiple monitors with SLI enabled. I'd have been scratching my head when I ran up against that wall.;) Well I'm gonna lug a couple of clunky old CRTs around and see what happens now. I'll just save up and upgrade 1 at a time when I come across good deals. Thanks again for all the help! Most of what I've learned about making FlightSim more realistic and enjoyable has come from the Avsim Forums over the years from helpful; knowledgable people like yourselves.Anybody who wants to show they're "flight decks" feel free. Adhering to forum rules of course! I love seeing the customization factor of this hobby!Thank you,KailFlightSimmer since 1987C2D E6850 3.0GHz 1333FSBXFX Nforce 680i LT SLI2x XFX 8800GT 512MB SLI'd2GB Crucial Ballistix PC6400 800MHzCreative SB Audigy2 ZSUltra Xfinity 600W SLI PSUSeagate 320GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA-3GB/S HDWindows XP SP2 / FSX SP2 / FS9 SP1 Thanks for listening, Kail

EVGA 7900GS and EVGA 8600GTS and will be using 3 monitors 17, 19, 17. SLI disabled. I'm running Vista-32 with FSX. The monitors display in Vista no problems. But FSX will not start. My main PCIe has the EVGA 8600GTS and (1) 19 and 1(17) running on it. The EVAG 7900GS has the single 17. Device Manager displays the 7900GS as the first video card. Would that cause a problem in FSX? Since the first video card only has a single monitor connected. Thanks,Ray
