Mouse Movement and FPS?

Featured Replies

Alright bright lads, I've got a problem that I hope your braintrust can help me out with.I have noticed with certain addon aircraft (Dreamfleet Wilco, and others) that I can attain my locked framerate value in the VC AS LONG AS I DON'T MOVE MY MOUSE. Once I move the mouse, the frames drop by 10-15 fps. "Weird," I thought. Once the mouse stops moving and disappears from the screen, up pops the framerate again and all is well.Does anyone else notice this problem?I have a USB optical mouse and the rest of my computer specs are in my signature. Any help from you wise sages would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

Is your mouse wireless? And do you have a wireless modem/router nearby ?

Thanks for the input. Yes, it is a wireless mouse and I do have a wireless router nearby. Would a traditional plug and play mouse help with the performance hit?I had previously turned off mouse shadowing and other effects, but I still had the problem. I appreciate your help, and any further ideas would be appreciated as well.:-)

Try updating your mouse software.A couple years ago I was running a Logitech G5 laser mouse and there was a bug in the "SetPoint" software that created incredibly high CPU utilization rates which caused FPS in games to drop tremendously.
