October 26, 200817 yr for my buck.Interested in opinions on best video card out there at the moment for FSX. You can see my current card in my specs, but it is about two years dated I think. Just wondering what everyone here might think...thanks...Dan - -

October 27, 200817 yr Author Thanks...I just stumbled across the 3rd quarter benchmarks for 3d gaming video cards and found that this card is possibly slower than the one I have now...but it is a good deal ;)It seems the 8600 512meg flavor could be way to go. It does not show a huge increase over my 7950, but it would be nice to get a newer card and drop this one in my older box..D -

Or that the 8800GT is slower than your 7950? If either of those is correct, then your notion is completely untrue. the 8800GT absolutely DEMOLISHES the 8600GT in every aspect as it does to the 7950. Now, this may not manifest itself in FSX or FS9 because these programs are CPU limited and not vid card limited, but you'd be crazy to purchase an 8600 over an 8800GT unless your sole objective is saving money, in which case you'd just want to stick with your 7950.
October 28, 200817 yr Author no worries, I was at work when I typed this, I meant the 8800 512 meg.note link: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gaming-...-X-SP2,784.htmlI can get a pretty good deal on the 8800 in the coming month or so, and prices might fall...might be a good way to go..so yea, 8800 is way to go - and way faster - I just typed it wrong..thxDanon -
