October 28, 200817 yr After reading few reviews - that compare these two cards and say that they come close - I still can not decide which one to get. GTX 280 from Gigabyte for $439 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814125200 - or HD 4870 from Sapphire for $279 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102795Can somebody share an experience..Thanksom
October 28, 200817 yr Get the GTX280. The HD4870 does not cut it in FSX, although it is fine in Crysis. Cheers,Noel. 11th Gen i9-11900K @ 3.5GHz | nVidia GeForce RTX 3080 | Corsair 64 GB RAM | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB | Asus 27" RoG G-Sync Track IR5 | Thrustmaster Warthog | CH Products Pedals

October 29, 200817 yr I'm with JIMJAM here. The raw power of the 4870 will give you better image quality especially with higher resolution monitors as you will be able to set more demanding filtering. From what I've read, seems everyone agrees the nVidia 8800 GTX will give you the highest FPS.So what's best for you depends on whether you value image quality more than FPS or viceversa.Cheers,jahman.

Considering the price get the 4870. Save that extra money for the newer cards that will be coming out in the next few months. I had a 260 and sent it back. Tired up the nVidia driver locking up FSX when accessing the menu items, plus the 260 had some weird polygon displays.
