November 16, 200817 yr HiI use to play FS2004(FS9) not FSX and I am planning on upgrading my graphic card from ATI Radeon x1950pro 256mb to MSI Radeon HD4850 512mb so I wanted to know if anybody of you guys have this card and which Catalyst software you are currently using for the FS2004(FS9) to work well because I read in some posts that there are people who had problems with this card especially with the antialiasing,So I hope you can help me,Regards,Victor
November 16, 200817 yr Hi there,Not quite but similar... I have a HD3850 512Mb. On my system, using FS9 and XP (32bit), I have found that newer catalyst drivers newer (8.5-8.10) do not allow switching between fullscreen and windowed mode while some older ones (8.0-8.2) have problems with the anti-aliasing. I am using 8.4 drivers with no problems at all... Of course I don't know if your (newer) card has the same issues...Geoff
November 17, 200817 yr I had a 4850. It seemed to worked just fine in fs9 and I didn't notice any AA problems, but I was in full-screen mode too. But I use fsx instead of 9 so I didn't fly around in 9 much. In fsx it had more scenery shimmering than the nVidia cards and performance (fps) was on-par with the nvidia ones in clouds.3D slider was on quality, fs settings AA and tri. These was with Catalyst 8.10-Kevin
November 18, 200817 yr Hi Victor,I just made the jump from an ATI X1950pro to a Visiontek HD4850. I am using the current driver from the ATI website (8.11) with no problems so far. I am using it for both FS9 and FSX with a noticable increase in performance in both sims. I am not overclocking though. That might be the source of some of the problems that have been reported.Hope that helps. "A good landing is one you can walk away from. An excellent landing is one you can taxi away from."
