I don't really understand this, and I'm sure it's a stupid question for you guys who do this all the time.I repainted a 747 once (meljet) and it worked fine. I actually repainted it in Paint. I have learned later that Paint is not the preffered program to do this in, and I figured that's why it's so hard to open any of the .bmp files in paint, and when I do, the a/c turns out just blank in FS if saved from Paint. So I went ahead and downloaded a trial version of Photo Shop CS. Now when I try to open the files, it still tells me it can't read the files. What am I doing wrong? and what is the best aircraft for me as a newbie to try to repaint? Please help! Thanks,Best regards,

That was all I needed... Thank youRegards,

You need to first open them in DXT BMP (Search google.com) or Image Tool to convert the textures to a readable format. You can then view them in Photoshop or your prefered image editing software.

I cant when I try to open the texture files from aircraft it just wont work. I need some help!TC:-)

Hi TCAs Sam said...get this progy "DXTbmp" and then you will be able to see your aircraft textures.Gus

I totally made it work, so do what they said. I had the same problem, which is why I posted the message in the first place.Good luck,Best regards,

I Love Posts that begin with "This is probably a stupid question" That nearly always means that I should read it carefully. Once again that axiom has proven true. I have been beating my head against my brand new version of PSP for about seven hours. So when I logged on to ask my stupid question I found your post. Thank you very much.'nuther newbieDenver Davis

Hehe, my pleasure. I'm glad I could be the one to ask the stupid question. That way, you still walk away with your dignity, lol.

I use imagetool.exe because you can use command line batch files to perform operations on multiple files at once such as conversion of tga files to dxt3 files with or without bitmaps etc, or conversion of DXT3 back to 32 bit etc. Very helpful. I also use Photoshop for my work.Eric
