Light files . . . can they go into the default FS9\Texture folder ?

Featured Replies

Hi folks, just in the process of replacing my UT models with AI Aardvark ones.Would the rendering module recognize the _l files if I placed them in the FS9Texture folder instead of one in each repaint folder ?I would definitely save a lot of disk space but I am really hoping to improve performance. Thanks

Not sure, but theres certainly no harm in trying it out :)

Yes, FS9 will recognize a LM bitmap if placed in the general texture folder. This is "ok" if you have multiple textures that use the same file as its an economy in total HD footprint at that point. Would be inefficient and cluttering if you only had a single repaint you used it for because if the user removed the repaint, you'd still have an extra file left in the general textures folder. Some AI file sets use this methodology. The Ultimate GA Lear 45 set does this as an example.Eric
