June 26, 200718 yr Is there any way that I can see whether a texture file has been saved with MIPS or NO MIPS? The programme DXTBMP allows you to select whether you wnat to save the file either way - but how do you tell if a file has in fact been saved with MIPS.THanks for any adviceBarry
June 26, 200718 yr A really quick way.. with bmps. If the file is 32bit and 1024x1024, the file size is:With mips - 5.33mbsWithout mips - 4mbsIf DXT3 (compressed):With mips - 1.33mbsWithout mips - 1mbI don't believe theres a way in DXTBmp, but there is in Imagetool. Open the file in Imagetool, on the right it says "Mip Levels".. if it says 1 then it doesn't have any, a large number (I think 11) then it does :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 28, 200718 yr I wanted to add one question. if it's okay. How in the world does ImageTool operate? I've got it, I can open it, but it just sits there staring back at me---very intimidating! lol Seriously, though, when I try to open a texture with ImageTool, nothing happens!!Am I missing something?Thanks---sorry to butt in on the end like this. 4deucer
June 28, 200718 yr Very strange, I just opened a bmp up in it by going to "File" - "Open" and just by dragging it in. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 29, 200718 yr H-m-m-m-m-m....I tried that, but got an error message that said "Entire contents of texture coould not be read." I'm positive I got this program from one of the FSCOF disks SDK's, but just to double check, does the program open up with it.exe ?Program identity is UTHSCSA (University of Texas Health Services ???)(http://ddsdx.uthscsa.edu/) Do I even have the correct program? The screen opens up in an Excel-looking format, and there's a lot of discussion about scripts.????Thanks!!4deucer
June 29, 200718 yr UTHSCSA ImageTool is an entirely different program and NOT the Imagetool we`re using for converting our FS related graphic-files.The program we use is named Image Tool (ACS Image Tool)Just one stand-alone executable "imagetool.exe" ( size 184Kb ) wich requires no installation. It`s in the SDKRegardsLeen de Jagerhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174547.jpg
June 29, 200718 yr Aha! That explains it :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 29, 200718 yr Leen,That would explain it alright. However, that leaves me rather perplexed as to why the FS disk SDK should contain the program I referenced. But puzzled too much already---I'll just go back to the disk and get it again! Hopefully it's something I did, and I'll get the right thing, as you pointed to above! You've been very helpful, and I appreciate it!!4deucer
