February 1, 200818 yr I use version VII for many years and that works fine.Version XI is much newer and I think it will do perfectly too.DXT3 supported? I do not know (VII does`nt)Alphas , probably yes (VII does)For extracting and loading alpha-layers and converting to and from DXT-formats we can use DXTBmp (by Martin Wright http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htm )Look here for an excellent repaint tutorial by Morgan Dainow. http://members.lycos.co.uk/mcwdainowLeen
February 1, 200818 yr Author Leen, Thanks for the feedback. It is easy to get version numbers mixed up on a first purchase.VII , XI, X1, X2 etc.!Ok, You mentioned XI ... is it the same as X1?The internet add mentioned X1 (old $25, X2 new $50)If so, that's what I will purchase.I have DXTBMP .. used it a couple of times. The tutorial you mentioned, I will get it and read it.>I use version VII for many years and that works fine.>Version XI is much newer and I think it will do perfectly>too.>>DXT3 supported? February 2, 200818 yr I have ver X2. It will not read DXT format. Have to use DXTBmp or FSPaint to convert them.
February 8, 200818 yr Author Rick,Thanks for the information.I will probably get Paint Shop Pro Photo X2.From reading the posts it should do all the basics ok (alpha channels etc) ... enought to get me started repainting. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
February 8, 200818 yr Oh yes it will.I never create alphalayers as an alphalayer IN Paintshop.Adding alphas to the final BMP with DXTBmp I prefer. The cheapest solution is downloading Paint.net , that`s an open source/freeware painting program wich is very suitable for repainting. There are many plug-ins for this program doing nice tricks.http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/Leen
February 8, 200818 yr Author Leen,Thanks again.I will give it a try. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
