FSUIPC

HIThank you Marcus for your request to start this forum. I hope it will be of interest for many Addon developers and bringing some ideas.SO, I am looking for help in writing a small DLL that mlust cooperate with FSUIPC.DLL.First of all: I am preparing an article: "Do more with your joystick" and the first part of it can you find here: http://users.pandora.be/desi-iii/FSUIPCbuttons.doc . It describes how you can program the buttons of your joystick with multiple commands. The next part will describe how you can extend the programming with a "state" machine, an up/down counter. But in the present form you quickly don't know any more, which count the state machine has. You can however already test it, you find an FSUIPC.INI here: http://users.telenet.be/desi-iii/FSUIPC.INI . Now I am searching a volunteer to write or to help me to write a small dll (freeware, however button programming can only be used by full licensed FSUIPC users) that displays a small message for 1/2 a second or so in a popup window in a corner of the screen (cfg. trim values of FS-FORCE) The message is stored in an external file and has to be displayed when a value is changed in a memory cell (also accessed by the button programming). In fact the value written to the cell is the record number of the message. As such the changing state can display a message as "COM1" if you can change the COM1 frequences, or "OBI 1" or the OBI course etc. Thanks for reading, hmhm

I putted in the library several source code programs. One of the programs is a module (rain) that uses FSUIPC so you have the basic structure.Jos

Great idea opening this thread. I have been simming for two years now, and want to get into producing add-ons as I have many ideas that I think would make the sim better. Although I know nothing about programming currently, I am very interested in gauges to create certain effects. I have ideas of creating:1) Gauge for condensation stream off the wings/flaps during high lift and high humidity situations. (will automatically play effect when conditions are right)2) a gauge to change breaking when on wet/snowy surface3) Programming that will have AI planes appropriately "crabbing" during cross wind landings4) Best of all, and I think biggest of all: a probability model for various events would make fs9 much more spontaneous and enjoyable. My thoughts:1) Probability of engine (and other) failier for no apparent reason2) Probability of lightning strikes and loosing all electrical when flying in storm etc....Can someone let me know if this type of programming is possible and what type of skills are necessary?

1) Possible. Check nick smoke effects in the library it's a solution.2) Possible. two possible solutions: trying to force ABS style braking or FSUIPC to act in airplane acceleration;3) don't know;4) sure. There are several programs that deal with this kind of ocurrence. However I believe that the best achievement in this area was by FSD in the airplane engines. An external program could have some limitations in airplanes that bypass FS systems like autopilot.Jos

Hi cimanera,like Jos

Thanks for your response guys. No I do not have any programing experience, I'm starting from the ground up! Just have a strong disire make FS even more enjoyable. I will study up on FSUIPC and return with questions. Thanks again.
