March 8, 200818 yr One of the main problems of the IFR environment is the risk of icing. And while many of the simulated aircraft avialable for FS2004 (particularly propjets and piston twins) have the right switches on the overhead panel, these are cosmetic. To my knowledge, no-one has designed an add-on program to simulate the effects of ice buildup (increased drag, speed decay and potential calamity), still less anti- or de-icing equipment which does something about it. Such a program would obviously need to be linked to weather conditions likely to lead to icing. I'm a retired commercial pilot who enjoys sims, but would like to see more realism in this important area of safer flying. Do you know of anyone working on such a project?GWI (EGKA)
August 3, 200817 yr Registered FSUIPC have couple options to simulate icing: pitot stucking (airspeed indicator not working), drag increase, "MinIce"...Also ActiveSky have to since its sending to FSUIPC to activate, but then i guess no need registered FSUIPC... Its all what i know atm
