Will start immediate planning on a likely route. Some good options here I think to make it good ;)

I've completed preliminary planning making good use of the provided bonus stops and legs (of course not using all of them).Total trip length is 27700nm, not bad I'd say. Please keep to this route, individual airports are open to preference of course except where they are ones mentioned in the rules document. In some cases the individual airports are however specifically chosen to make for the most optimal leg and anything else will cause a violation of the leg timing rules which should be avoided at all cost.

Nice job on the quick route planning Jeroen. Some thoughts:- The rules are really interesting this year! Bonus airports are huge - 5 hrs is an enormous boost. We should try to hit as many of those as possible within the route constraints.- Jump jet -- I have the PSS Concorde, and am proficient at flying it (those of you that have it know this is not an easy task). We should save the wildcard for the Concorde and knock off some major distance/time in one shot.- This should be a lot of fun and very competitive!!!!

The wildcard is planned to connect from New Zealand to the start of the Concorde leg ;)

Hi all,Whew - quite a mouhful, these rules!I'm not sure I understand it all, but it could be my english is not good enough (and that may apply to others as well). For instance, the rule about standard aircraft: What does it mean: "...the baton is not releaseable for 1 hour..."? I assume it means that you must keep the baton for at least 1 hour, regardless of how far you fly, and that the rule is there to prevent people from just doing a start and land in a very slow/difficult aircraft, but I could be wrong...Anyway, Jeroen seems to have done some of his magical planning, but I would sure like to see those plans - it might help me to see when I might be of help. So do you plan to post the plans, or will we have some other means of getting them out?BrgdsSven Sorensen, EKCH

They will be posted in due time :)As to the 1 hour, that's indeed say that each classic leg should be at least one hour long.

Hi JeroenWell, got that right at least :)But I do think I will leave the flight planning in your VERY capable hands, and just try to do a leg or two in the very nice P-38I've downloaded - AND done a lot of practice in, I might add...But if you need a Concorde pilot in the proper timezone (UTC+1), I am qualified. I've already completed my first RTW in PSS Concorde. :)Word of caution about this plane, though: It is *very* sensitive to sudden wind changes, and you might easily overstress it. This could be very expensive at the wrong time.I'll try to be available from 1600-2100 UTC the next couple of days.Other than that: I'm looking forward to the race, whether or not I get to fly!BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH

thanks for the offer of help. We have someone lined up for Concorde but it never hurts to have backup. There will be enough other legs to fly so you'll get your change.
