February 8, 200620 yr 3 minute penalty, but we're well positioned to reach the northern tip of the Philippines (approx. 600 miles) for the ride up to Japan.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/141339.jpgGreg

February 8, 200620 yr From the official rules:"Full authentication of a flight leg is accomplished by posting the image and text file generated by the RTW-Duenna and the make and model of the aircraft used onto the race thread. Full authentication must be completed by the time the baton is free at the end of the next leg. "I have only been posting the Duenna image but the rules say that the text file should also accompany the Duenna. I think we should incorporate this in our practice sessions so we don't forget in the race.Jeff | Windows 11 | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | i9-14900K | RTX 4090 | 64GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 | 4TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 | 2x 4TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 | CORSAIR AX1600i ATX Titanium | LG C2 42 Inch 4K OLED |
February 8, 200620 yr Yes, the text file should also be included according to the rules. I did not realize that, but here it is.I think we should not include it in the message body, because the thread would be in short time unreadable. But an attachment is part of a message too. So I think it is not against the rules to post it as attachment.Jozef K. http://homepages.onsnet.nu/~jkusters/signature.jpg
February 8, 200620 yr hi guys...just reread some of the thread and kind of stumbled over the word "team consensus"...that brought me to the question: do we have an overview of the amount of pilots in the avsim-team? and that led me to the next question: do we have some kind of "chairman" who is coordinating things in the avsim-team during the race?does the team know in which time-zone everyone of these pilots is sitting and at what time each of these pilots will be able to contribute to the race and if he/she can't fly does the team have substitutes ready for such no-show-cases? i have read some old stuff of the bygone races and got the impression that the flightsim-team won because "they were better organised"...this sounds to me that flightsim had a plan -a good plan! do we have a good plan? so far i've not heard any mention of it...though i'm quite sure there must be at least some preliminary concept of one...
February 8, 200620 yr When the time comes a rough plan will be posted mentioning major points that have to be hit. After that the people online will refine that constantly to find the best fields to fly to next in order to take the shortest possible route while still meeting requirements. The FS.com team won mostly because they were more lucky than us last year. They were far better organised last year than the years before that which is what prompted that statement.Previously they sometimes seemed to have no plan at all (during the first race for example they ended up stranded in the middle of the Pacific with nowhere to go within the allowed time and distance limits), while we have always had some people working behind the scenes to preplan route segments.Traditionally I've been the one doing the route planning, and I do plan to continue doing that this year. But I'm hardly a chairman, just the guy who took it upon himself when he noticed a job that had to be done and now I'm probably the most experienced in that job from all the regulars.
February 8, 200620 yr that's new then, I'd missed it as well.Previous years only the image was required.
February 8, 200620 yr i see. it sure is comforting to know that an experienced person like you is working for the team. i'm just beginning to get to know some of members. what is your guess about the total number of pilots who might be flying during the race for avsim?
February 8, 200620 yr I've been keeping a roster of pilots who have either checked in or started practice. My current count is 20 pilots. As we get close to the race start it would be good to know what kind of availability each pilot has so we can anticipate days/times when we would benefit from having additional support.
