December 24, 200520 yr Hi Bryan,I read about this in another thread and I experienced the same: on final approach the FO kept moving the heading bug around, even though there definitely was a runway in the FMC, rwy 24 of EHRD to be exact. And for your information, I did a through flight after that and it kept going around until about the start of Hotel Mode, and at the other end the FO didn't set the bug or ILS2 at all. I thought this might be helpful in trouble shooting.Leo Bakker
December 27, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi Leo,On the odd occasion the heading bug will do that, usually it won't though. It's a hard one for me to reproduce with any consistency. What is the ILS freq for 24 at EHRD and what is the runway heading?Cheers,Bryan B. December 27, 200520 yr Hi Bryan,You're right that it's hard to reproduce, I use EHRD as my "homebase" and this has only happened once. After that I once had the decimals of the ILS2 frequency going round, which meant that the FO never got to the heading bug at all.Well, as long as it only happens every now and then it's not such a big deal. I think that maybe it could be related to ATC interfering at the wrong moment or things like that?FWIW, EHRD is 108.30 and 238 degrees.Leo Bakker
January 5, 200620 yr Bryan,I just experienced what Leo was talking about. I was flying from EKBI to ENTO (Rwy 36). On approach (CI36), the heading bug just spun around out of control (counter clockwise). Even after I parked, it was still spinning. This was odd...it's never happened to me before.Mike
January 7, 200620 yr Bryan,You're right about not be able to reproduce this problem. I flew the same route tonight and no problem. I didn't do anything different...same route...landed from the same direction...and no spinning heading bug. I guess this is just one of those unexplainable occurances.Mike
