APU on startup

Featured Replies

Hello,Is it possible with the new FS2Crew version to start the session with external power connected and then later turn on APU or start completely by external air? With LDS the APU should be on when starting the FS2Crew session.

Hello Georg,FS2Crew 747 leaves connecting external power or the APU up to the user. The reasons are two fold:1. You will be required to load a custom FS2Crew Panel State file so the 747 cockpit will be setup the same way you would typically receive the aircraft in the real-world. Typically -but not always- the crews would receive the aircraft with the APU already running. However, a limitation of the PMDG 747 itself is that you cannot save Panel State files that have APU or EXT power pre-connected, so I can't have the APU pre-running even if I wanted to.2. Regardless, at certain airports you cannot use the APU due to noise abatement reasons, so in a sense it would be procedurally wrong on a certain, rare occasions to have the APU automatically on when you start the simulation (even if it were possible) in case you were at an airport that does not want you to use the APU for whatever reason.Long story short, you can start with the APU or EXT power if desired. Cheers,Bryan

Thanks Bryan! This sounds really cool. By the way, why is it necessary in the LDS 767 version to have APU running?
