I just finished re-arranging my scenery cfg and dont know if I did it right. During a flight from mia-atl just over the vqq vortac fs crashes to the desk without any message. I was able to reproduce this twice. It was during the night in the winter. My latest organization scheme was to put the addon landclass above everything else, the seatac mall addon just above addon scenery, and the airports under the areal photos, and eveything else below that. Am I doing this wrong? Does anyone have a tutorial about fs scenery organization? This has been my 1st crash since re-install a month and 1/2 ago.

Hey Mike; She's backwards! In this quick description ignore the "priority" numbers on your screenshots for the moment:1. Push the UT_USA and CAN/ALASKA files to - pictorially - below the photo files - under Amsterdam.2. Push FSGLC to the next spot above the two main UT files, with UT_CITY above that.3. Then - move the airport sceneries (between Jackson's Hole and Las Vegas)up above the 'photo files, along with the FreeFlow stuff.4. I think the FS Terrain Mesh Scenery can move down one. This should fix the issue.The problem comes in the various ways which people describe "priority, the way this is numbered in the scenery.cfg, and the way it's displayed on the screen. It's upside-down.Priority 1 is the Default Terrain - shown here as 60. In the scenery.cfg it's numbered as Area.001, Layer=1. The "Layer =" will set the priority. I ignore the screen numbering because it's confusing. The "Area" is only an indication of what number was given to it when it was installed. The higher that number - the later it was installed. Now Only if I could solve my fps issues, Boy I wish I had your conroe right about now, when looking head on to frf jfk 2004 from r/w 31L I get only 19fps with the lds 767 with my 3800 at 2.8! This happens when im looking at any airport building in fs, even flytampa which is supposed to be good on frames. Im out of ideas with that, the last thing I can think of before forking over some cash to fsgs is changing some textures to dxt3, is there a program out there that will be able to change the format of Thnaks for the help paul, tried it all though and it didnt fix a thing :(. Heres a ss to prove it, I dont get it, asv6 was not running, squawkbox was not running, scenery complexity is at normal. How can It be that I only get 17fps just because im looking at an airport?? Are there any tweaks that I should try besides lowering the cloud desity and draw options, they dont make any difference, so I guess my video card is doing what it should, but it seems the cpu stuff is slow. Ive been troubleshooting this for months and no one seems to have any clue why this is happening to me.BTW I tried all the things like fs autostart, disabling anti virus, disk defrag, but they make no difference whatsoever, and yes aa is off in fs.

Maybe it's traffic causing the problems...try dropping your traffic slider to 0 and see how that affects things. Places like JFK are horrible because of the large amount of traffic being loaded with all the other airports in the area (much of which you can't see) and hence a kazillion texture loads...especially if you have some AI birds which are not properly textured and mipped for performance. Imagine the workload of trying to render 20 high-polygon PMDG models at once...even though they may be way out in the distance or behind a hangar somewhere.Have you experimented with the Render to Texture setting?OTOH, based on my last system, 19fps with traffic at KJFK doesn't seem to be out of the question with your system.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile

I never use traffic, only vatsim tfc, during my test squawkbox was not on so there was no traffic, and there was no weather.

To be honest - I don't have much of the scenery you have, Mike, so I can't comment on what happens when you look at a particular airport: let me just say that there are some packages that aren't very frame-friendly and even with the Conroe I still get a hesitation - maybe two - at Seattle. I'm running locked at around 25, but can easily lock it at 40 in FS9 and 25 in FSX. I'm thinking that perhaps 2.8 gig aren't enough ponies. I use fs autostart, too. Good tool.
