June 20, 200718 yr Dave, No hard feelings here either. You are exactly right in saying that "the point was / is to take up the challenge to help others pass the rides and if that were not the case I would not take the time to write guides or tutorials my self. As a great old Chinese guy once said 'That there is no greater gift in life than to pass on to others what one has learnt for oneself" .Looking at my experiences I still learn a thing or two everyday in this business of flying from this very board. Lots of guys and gals here with lots more experience than I visit these forums on a daily basis to help others or get answers etc.So now we back on track. These are two guides ( actually there were for FS2002 )http://ca.geocities.com/[email protected]_guide.htmlhttp://www.angelfire.com/ult/fsflightline/...ing_737ATP.htmlRegards,Douglas B-707 Ret.
June 21, 200718 yr I didn't really look, but this is how I would do it in real lfie...draw out the hold (even the entry... do you know what a teardrop entry looks like when you pass the holding point?) and just use a timer! a real life one could be even more helpful. make sure you are making a standard rate turn and bam!We got 5 Ts when we make holdings (lol, I can't remember what it was, i'm sure a RL IFR pilto can help me out :()
June 21, 200718 yr lol, just gave it a try... its weird, he tells me to make a standard 180 turn to the South... when I do, he keeps telling me to turn left now and ends the lessonmy real life DE wasnt this hard! lol
June 21, 200718 yr Douglas, a bit off topic, but since you are a retired 707 driver have you checked out the Historic Jetliners Group?http://www.simviation.com/hjg/main.htm Great set of 707's and DC8's there, and for free! Mike
June 21, 200718 yr Mike,Thanks a lot for the link. Yes I have seen their superb aircraft and repaints had downloaded quite a few 7oh's and just have them on a b-up cd but until I get a wide enough screen I really cannot enjoy the cockpits as the gauges are too small for my eyes. I use the 767 or 737's with my own concocketed cockpit (looks like it was pieced together from a boneyard, speedtape n all..lol) and have a lot of fun with those. DC8'8 are a fine offering but I'm diehard Boeing.Cheers,Douglas
June 22, 200718 yr Douglas and Mike, it's all good, again, thanks for getting me on track again too.Dug up some screenshots of this checkride that may be helpful:Emir, the 5 or 6 T's you are referring to:Test - check heading indicator against wet compassTurn - turn to/ begin turn to proper heading Time - begin timer for holding leg or start of approach Twist - set your OBS to the proper course Transition - to proper altitudeThrottle - set properly for required aircraft configuration and airspeed Talk - communicate with controller as requiredReally though, the 5 (6) T's vary depending on the maneuver you are trying to accomplish and specifically what you were taught by your CFII. In other words, your mileage may vary. :)Best Regards All,Dave
