Ok, I've looked around and haven't found any "official" forums for FSMetars.I'm having a problem with FSMetars and have attempted to email the author which resulted in a bounced email stating the account's unknown.I like to use FSMetars to load the NOAA weather. Unfortunately, it doesn't like NOAA. Anyone know where to get help for this?

Are you referring to FSMetars or FSMetar?FSMetar works fine with NOAA data.see:http://personal.telefonica.terra.es/web/fsmetar/

That's the one... and no... it errs out every time I attempt to download from NOAA... which is why I'm seeking help. The gentleman's email address, the sole source for any possibility of assistance, is no longer valid.

Are you using Version 1.5.5?Do you have the FSUIPC key? Here is my ini file.// Fichero de configuraci

I have the 1.5.5 installed.I have a licensed version of FSUIPC.It has all the correct settings. It downloads 2 files from the NOAA server... at the end of the second file it says "Metar download failed." Since I watched it actually download both files... the download apparently didn't fail. Yet... I get the error and it sets no weather. It works fine if I choose either VATSIM or IVAO.... but always errors on NOAA.

I usually download from Vatsim so I don't use NOAA very often. I presume you get the same warning message about the length of time to download from NOAA as I do. I have had the NOAA download fail but only on a few occasions and I just re-downloaded. I presume the failure was due to a time out on a server. Sometimes I download the weather and save it to file and fly that weather if I'm not too fussy about real time weather.I don't have a licenced version of FSUIPC but I doubt that matters. You have me stumped. It sounds like you know more than I do on the subject. Sorry I can't be more help.

I tested the NOAA server a few times. I failed once. Here's two screenshots.

Well, I'm glad it works for you... it doesn't work at all for me, which doesn't make much sense.I wish there was a way to get some support, yes I know it's freeware... but the gent's email is invalid and there's no other contact method I'm aware of. :(

well realistically you have to understand the program is now several years old and hasn't been updated in a long long time. I used it for a while until about two years ago when I started using ActiveSky. I don't think the author has been supporting it for some time now as it's basically "abandon-freeware" at this point.

If you follow the URL's in the ini file you may get some insight into the problem. Here are the URL's from the ini file:[General]FSRefresh =60InternetRefresh=10IvaoURL = http://www.ivao.aero/network/metar.aspVatsimURL = http://usa-s1.vatsim.net/data/metar.php?id=ALLNooaURL = http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/cycles/Proxy =NOAutoRefresh=OnIvaoOnline=http://www.ivao.aero/network/metar.asp?Id=VatsimOnline=http://usa-s1.vatsim.net/data/metar.php?id=NooaOnline=http://weather.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/mgetmetar.pl?cccc=FSMessages=YesDebug=NoLanguageFile=English.lngDefaultServer=NOAAStartDownloadingMetars=YESExternalCOMPort= 8084ExternalCOMHost= 127.0.0.1Banner=banner.gifProxyUser=ProxyPassword=The IVAO and VATSIM URl's return a large block of data in a text file. The NOAA page gives a list of text files. I think in the second stage of the NOAA download. These file are "unpacked".If you follow the refresh URL's, the NOAA URL doesn't seem to work.Although NOAA data will download most of the time,I don't use NOAA because I don't think it refreshs. I use VATSIM or ICAO because I'm sure it refreshs and I'm not that concerned that NOAA is much better than VATSIM or ICAO.Perhaps fellow Simmers can advise how Active Sky works?

Here's a comparison between ADDS and VATSIM.

I also had a problem with NOAA. However, VATSIM works 100%. NOAA works 50% of the time. You might re-download the program to be sure:http://library.avsim.net/index.php?CatID=fs2002utilI use FSMetar in FSX with no problem and free version of FSUIPC.Regards,Dick BoleyA PC, an LCD, speakers, CH yoke
