Recommended Posts

Hi F15 Driver I sure like those shots you are showing. I to have UT,GE Pro,FE, etc just like you mention, but my sim doesnt look anything like yours. Any chance you can share some of your tweaks so i can get a simmilar result. Cheers Shaun

Well I installed this little addon and noticed something interesting: Autogen buildings look exactly like those in Koorbygen Lite pack, which is freeware. And water textures are exactly like those in Real Environment Pro pack, only slightly different colour and reflections. And autogen trees are exactly like those in Real Environment Pro package(and are originally from Feng Zhu's TreeGen).Shots of water textures, first one is RePro, second one is Excel:repro.jpgexcel.jpg

RHThese are very much FS9 pics...if you look closely at bottom right, I've got SB3.1 up and running (VATSIM)...which is unavailable in FSX (Except a beta SB4.0). I did "try" FSX for a bit and gave it a good shake out (applying hundreds of tweaks like everyone else to get near 20FPS with very little autogen and weather) but decided to go back to FS9 simply because I can get pert near FSX visual quality with 35-40FPS and can fly with all kinds of cloud cover (AS6.5) from large airports (numerous payware airport addons) in complex aircraft (PMDG, PSS 757, LDS 767, Wilco Airbus Vol1 and 2)and still maintain over 30FPS.Plus I can almost max out my autogen in FS9!A copy of my FS9.cfg which has a number of tweaks in it is listed below. In terms of "layering" scenery. I added FSGenesis landmass 38M first, then Ultimate Terrain (US/CAN/EUR), then GE PRO. Then tweaked AS6.5 cloud textures and sunrise/sunset, with Real Sky Pro, and water textures only with Flight Environment. Many payware airports from Cloud 9/Imagine Sim/Megahubs/Blue Print/Fly Tampa/UK Extreme/German Bundles etcI run Squawkbox and FSACARS in the background on every flight. In terms of "maintenance"; I run O/O defrag (payware) every week and do a "Complete/Name" option--that ensures files are organized and pulled from the same location for access--apparently cuts down the number of nano seconds your HD needs to "find" and access files. I also run Registry Healer every week to keep registry in peek performance...the amount of unused or incorrect .DLLs that go into the registry is staggering.Lastly, I run FSAutostart before I start FS9 to kill spurious background RAM eaters.I stay away from most "freeware" addons--though lots of great stuff out there--I've learned over the years (since FS98) that there's a higher probability of freeware adversely impacting your system than pay code.My system is about 2 yrs old:AMD FX-62 dual coreNvidia 7950 GX2 (1GB video)overclocked using Coolbits--I use Nvidia Driver--93.71 from late 2006 (still the best video driver for FS9 in my view-so much for having latest driver!!)4GB Corsair LL DDR RAMRaptor 10000rpm HDDell 24" 1920x1200 I definitely will take note of your settings and routine. You have FS9 working very well, and it shows.RH

Hi All. I think you guys are mistaken. The project is developed by FS-eXceleration Software, and Captain Keith was just publishing it, however it seems that the site has moved to its own domain now (it's not on the Captain Keith site anymore) and the purchase link is also down. I guess some changes are taking place. I have both the two other sceneries and I know that he planed to make the new version of Sandspit but is waiting for the FSX version to become ready before he releases the UT patch for both versions. Anyway, that is the low-down on the FSeXcel project. If you read the credits it even says developed by FS-eXceleration Software and distributed by captainkeith.com. I saw one or two other titles by that company (FS-eXceleration Software) a few years ago but nothing since then. The sort of came and went quickly. But I have been a loyal fan of the Capt. for over 4 years. :) His stuff is fun and hey, he had adventures out about a year or more before Microsoft did. :) Later guys,Rob

Well, I've tried it but it messed up my whole FS9, What I get is very dark, nearly a night scenery, everything is dark and only a few lights.Reinstalling the default FS9 files did'nt solve it so I have to install the whole bunch again. Thanks Captain Keith....

I had no problems and only a few questions that were answered ASAP. Anyway, he is only distributing this product for another developer so if you have any issues then go blame the developer not The Captain.

I tried posting my question above but so far no suggestions So I thought I would try again in more detail..On April 10 I purchased the "FS-eXcel for FS2004" from-- FS-eXcel, after reading the recommendations of several folks in this thread. ..I have not been able to get a download link. At the time there was no SALES HOLD on at FS-eXcel, which I now see there is.. ?It is mentioned here that CAPTAIN KEITH is selling this software but I don't see it on his website.? Here is what I have done so far---. 1---I checked my PAYPAL acct-- the $14.95 was listed as 'pending'.2- I wrote to ediversifiedholdings.com (whomever that is) see #1 below 2---- received an email from - ediversifiedholdings.com.See #2 below3- I received a confirmation from PAYPAL saying I have PAID ediversified holdings $14.95. see #3 below---4-- Finally found a way to send an email to CAPTAIN KEITH through his website without a product code. :>)) So I just asked him also..Now FS-eXcel seems to be in a 'sales hold" mode.. Can you possibly help me..? ( I have made the TRANSACTION # xxxxx-- because I don't know if I should post it in public or not. :>))I use PAYPAL all the time and have never had a problem... My cfg is identical to yours with these exceptions:1. I run autogen at max2. I set my upper frame limit at 243. I didn't have RENDER_TO_TEXTURE=1. What does this do? I marked it as //new tweak in case something happens to my beautiful sim. It looks as good as yours although I don't have the addon airports with that frilly thing reaching into the sky. The weather looks the same, the ground looks the same. The only thing I don't like is when I fly at FL440 my ground texture turns into a gray block. Once I am descending it clear up around FL380 or so.Dell XPS420, Q6600, 3GB, Nvidia 8600GTS 256MB (Believe it or not, this is not enuf machine to run FSX more than 20fps with sliders at 1/2 so I stick with FS9 where everything is maxed)

>Let me say this again... "The project is developed by>FS-eXceleration Software, and Captain Keith was just>publishing it!" I had no problems and only a few questions>that were answered ASAP. Anyway, he is only distributing this>product for another developer so if you have any issues then>go blame the developer not The Captain. I think this is really cute. Really. You join the forums here precisely at the point CaptainKeith is being criticized and the only three posts you've ever made here -- all too coincidentally -- are located in this thread. To make matters more interesting, your statement that CaptainKeith bears no responsibility at all is inordinately amusing. Can you say, "plantd a really excited user"?Unfortunately, your statements don't hold much water.(It's amazing what an internet cache contains....)bahbb5.jpgCorrect me if I'm wrong, but the product was sold at CaptainKeit's website. As clearly shown here, he originally stated that the software was completely compatible with the more popular texture packages. That turned out to be completely untrue, of course. Complaints and questions have come up about this at various flightsim forums, and only then does he change HIS website to indicate that the FS-eXcel textures are NOT compatible. Then, to drum the plot up even more, someone here makes a rather interesting comparison between various freeware textures and Fs-eXcel, which apparently prompted everyone associated with the package to stop sales immediately. Coincidental? I think not.I don't mind the fact that CaptainKeith may have possibly marketed and distributed a package without really knowing what he was getting into. But, unfortunately, HE marketed it on his website, SOLD it from his website, and RECEIVED money for its purchase(s). Whether or not this is the case now is pretty irrelevant. So let's just call a proverbial spade what it is and not obfuscate the matter any further. Some good news out of all this: one of the poster's above indicated that CaptainKeith helped him out with some of the problems associated with installation of the FS-eXcel package. I think that's a good thing; perhaps rdalton will now say that CaptainKeith shouldn't have supported it since he was completely unaffiliated. :)

Well what ever and where ever it comes from I don't know. 15 bucks is still not a bad price. My questions are how does it look and how well does it run on FS9?We need more reviews.RH

Nothing was ever changed on my website except that I am no longer selling the FS-eXcel product. Also, Compatibility was never an issue. The issue was that some textures that were in question of being duplicates of textures found in other products. This is why the product was removed and why sales have stopped until this has been investigated. I would think that any developer would do the same if he/she was made aware of such a problem, don't you? >I don't mind the fact that CaptainKeith may have possibly>marketed and distributed a package without really knowing what>he was getting into. Seems like you don't have one except to rant and rave about an issue that is being worked out by the developers involved. Really, this is all none of your business anyway since the developers involved are more than able to handle this among themselves... and are doing so

>I don't need someone else to talk for me; I can do just>fine talking for myself.Well thanks for finally chiming in! >OK, I am correcting you because you ARE wrong. Nothing was>ever changed on my website except that I am no longer selling>the FS-eXcel product. Also, Compatibility was never an issue.>The issue was that some textures that were in question of>being duplicates of textures found in other products. This is>why the product was removed and why sales have stopped until>this has been investigated. I would think that any developer>would do the same if he/she was made aware of such a problem,>don't you? Well, this is all very likely true. Again, thank you for explaining yourself so thoroughly; I enjoy a pulpit-like tirade as much as any man. But it's also true that nothing in the form of a mea culpa was ever issued by CaptainKeith.com, nor by FS-eXceleration Software for selling the product. And, therefore, it might be just as easy to think that the developer in question wasn't "made aware" of the problem; it might just be he/she was caught trying to sell someone else's work and is only now getting into damage control mode. That's why it's important for businesses such as yours with such a long-standing record to come forward and state the matter quickly, before customer supposition gets out of hand.>So what exactly is your point then? Seems like you don't>have one except to rant and rave about an issue that is being>worked out by the developers involved. Making unsubstantiated accusations seems to be your forte. Most simmers will see your post for what it is...a personal agenda. Why not let the responsible parties handle their jobs and drop the melodrama?:-)

What an angry little man you are... you know, I really pity you, and I really do mean that. I don't even want to know what drives all that self-hatred. I forgive you man.. it isn't easy but I was told to do so by my Father and I obey Him. You should get to know Him sometimes... but that's up to you. Peace to you, cause God knows you really need it.

Geez, you're predictable. I love it when you roll out the god stuff. You used to use similar shenanigans and evasions on your own forums whenever you were put on the spot: The ol' "Gimme that Ol' Time Religion" defense. And for the record, I never made a single complaint on your forums; plenty of others did that. They got the "little man", "god" treatment, too.Anyway, enjoy your self-righteousness. Much more popular than "self-hating" and, after all, synonymous denial is always more comforting than reality. But guaranteed not a penny more from me nor anyone within earshot if I can help it.

I think maybe he should talk to a qualified shrink to actually understand his own self-hatred, if he feels like it.Lastly and most importantly:Matthew 6:14 (NAS)"For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you"Read the passages around this line. They're all about NOT making a pretentious show of your religion.
