May 9, 200818 yr Hi all:I know that if you have lots of aircraft in your hangar and lots of scenery in your addon scenery directory it affects the initial load times of FS9 when first start it.My question is would that same number of aircraft and addon scenery you have installed cause the system to run slower while you are actually flying around? Even if you were, obviously, only flying one plane at a time and in areas that weren't part of your addon scenery?Thanks.Paul. Paul
May 9, 200818 yr Probably not. Don't think the two are related.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
May 9, 200818 yr Indeed - just keep your drive defragged to minimize drive access times. Often the killer is not fps, but jerks/pauses as fs dynamically refreshes scenery etc etc. And here's another tip - if fs cannot find something, a texture, an effect file etc, it will waste valuable cpu cycles looking for them. Filemon http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb896642.aspx is a very useful tool in assessing your fs as it runs. I also use ACA2005 http://aifs.pvdveen.net/ACA2005.htm to interrogate my AI for errors, missing components etc.regards,Mark Regards, Mark
May 9, 200818 yr The best thing I ever did to increase FS9's performance was to get a second hard drive and install FS9 on the outer rim of the new drive, then buy a third party defragger program and defrag FS9 by file name. Fastest load times and texture fill times ever!Kim
