TileProxy Screenshots

Since we have this new forum, I guess it makes sense to post a few pics in here :). I'll start the ball rolling with a couple of shots from a flight over Switzerland (somewhere around Geneva), and another couple from Hawaii:http://www.mikesteven.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk...tileproxy01.jpghttp://www.mikesteven.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk...tileproxy02.jpghttp://www.mikesteven.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk...tileproxy03.jpghttp://www.mikesteven.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk...tileproxy04.jpgMany thanks to Christian for this great utility and to Google Earth for the photos.Cheers,DD

I went bouldering in my Cessna. This is near Moab, Utah in the vincinity of Tangri-La airstrip. My favourite sandstone in FSX so far. I am astounded how much "plasticity" these boulders get, despite the limited mesh resolution.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171847.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171848.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171849.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171850.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171851.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171852.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171853.jpg

Spectacular Christian. I will have to make a flight in that area. Moab is a great area for scenery in real life or in the sim now that Tileproxy is available.

Now if only you had a high resolution terrain mesh for Gran Canaria, you'd see those sand dunes actually have an elevation ;-)UPDATE: Found a freeware photorealistic Gran Canaria project HERE and it contains a 19.1 meter mesh.http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=82166

WOW I'm gonna give that a go, thanks. Are there any good global meshes and would they make a big impact on tileproxy?

I believe there are *three* global mesh products out for FSX on DVD.They make an impact anywhere where they are more exact than the stockmesh - and that would be pretty much anywhere outside the USA and Europe.PILOTs - FS Global 2008FSGenesis - World Terrain Mesh for FSXFSQuality - A Better WorldAbout their respectivy quality and flaws try to find product reviews.

The download consists of three parts:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=82166The CanarySim package will look for FS 2004 to install itself - if you don't have FS2004 the scenery manager tool that comes with it will spew out a lot of error messages. Ignore these ;)After installation of the CanarySim 2006 package, you may want tolook for these 5 BGL files in the CanarySim folder. These containthe highest resolution elevation meshes for each respective island.gcgm.bglgchi.bglgcladem2.bglgclpdem_11.bglgcxodemlod11.bglAfter placing these in your Flight Simulator XAddon ScenerySceneryfolder you should have a terrain mesh on 5 out of 7 major islands.UPDATE: I get a bit of an unnatural popup of elevation data in front of the plane. Maybe I should have copied the lod10, 9 and 8 versions as well. Only having the highest LOD data seems to confuse the sim.The authors are planning to release an update of their Canaryisland photoscenery in June this year, compatible with FSX withcoverage for all major islands.Christian

Almost finished downloading, I think I'll go for the FSGenesis world mesh, it's only 10 pounds and I can download it. I have their european 76m mesh for FS 2004 can I use that in FSX? Jsut checked their website, I can use my european mesh, happy days :) I think I'll still get the global one though as I've been spending a lot some time in Iraq and Afghanistan in my apache :)

This is unbelievable. I have never in my life been so awestruck by a simulation of any kind. This mesh does for Tileproxy what Tileproxy does over the Standard Terrain textures. If this is a taste of things to come then we are going to be very spoiled indeed. I can't stop hitting the Screenshot key, I have about a gig of BMPs from one flight over Gran Canaria LOL.2007-5-20_0-33-17-718copy.jpg2007-5-20_0-33-31-671copy.jpg2007-5-19_23-58-38-640copy.jpg
