Parking brake on

Featured Replies

All of a sudden the red text showing that parking brake is on has vanished! I know some folks don't like it and want rid of it, but for me it is handy am I am used to it. How can I get it back? Thanks.

That message (and many others) is stored in your language.dll file which is in your main DS2004 folder.Possibly you have changed it or it has become corrupt.Try restoring it from your install disks. If you have not done that before, these resources will be helpful:http://www.cat-tamer.com/flightsim/faq001.htmlIt shows where everything is on your install disks and how extract just what you need.I also recommend fs9cddir.zip - compiled by Brian Collins (available here in the library)This is an Excel format listing of all the files on your install disks. A great resource to keep handy. Also check your FS9.cfg file for the brake message setting.[sIM]SYSCLOCK=0SHOW_BRAKE_MESSAGE=1If the value is 0 (zero) then the brake message will not display.I would check this first before considering the restoration of your language.dll file.Hope this helps. :(

Thanks very much. [sIM] is set as above. I replaced the language.dll in the fs9.cfg file with one from another PC which I keep as a back up and which shows the parking brake message. Still no red text. Very odd.UPDATE: For some unaccountable reason I managed to put a taskbar on the bottom of the screen. This hid the red text. :( Thanks again.

Glad you got it sorted out. I don't care for the long brake message (and several others) so I use a language.dll which abbreviates those red messages. You might want to give it a try.http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=124963Happy Flying! :(

I managed to repeat my trick with the taskbar and had to do a search of the forums to find this old thread. Some people (me) never learn. BTW, Opa's link for the shortened PB messages no longer works. I have the relevant language.dll. I doubt if it is protected so if anyone wants it PM me. Thanks again, Opa.

You are welcome - BTW, the link works just fine now - re-uploaded the file a week or so ago as the original did not survive the hack.http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...amp;DLID=139493
