GE vs. GE Pro for FS9

Featured Replies

Ive had Ground Environment for a few years now and I have always wondered if it'd be worth the extra $$$ to upgrade to GE PRO. What's the concensus here?

"Is this FSX or FS9, I can't tell anymore???"

I also have the regular version of GE.When I was buying the addon, there already were two options to choose and I considered both. But as far as I understood it, except for few (visual) changes, the main difference was (and is?) the weather dependence.Using GE Pro and ActiveSky you can watch different ground textures in different weather conditions.Unfortunately it requires a texture set rebuild each time and is true only for the departing area. When you depart in a bright sunny weather and arrive in heavy rain and low visibility, you'll still have the clear bright textures. So the standard version, being cheaper, seemed to offer a reasonable compromise set of textures. So I've never upgraded to Pro. Maybe there is someone here who did and is glad and will give you his / her own reasons.

Hi,The other advantage of GE over GE Pro (at the time) was that GE was available on a CD, while GE Pro wasn't. I don't know if that's still true, but it's something to think about.Hope this helps,
