"Line-up and Wait" Instruction

Featured Replies

During a takeoff from TNCA/Rwy 11 (Aruba), I was instructed to "Line-up and Wait". I positioned the aircraft on the rwy (magnetic heading 113*) and waited for 27 minutes but no takeoff clearance was provided. I took off anyway fully expecting to be chastised by ATC but the ATC communications that followed were normal departure vectors. Is departing without clearance from an A/P such as TNCA (not FAA controlled) normal ?Thanks,Zach

Zach,I have no solution but I had the very same situation yesterday morning when I took a flight from Brussels (EBBR) to Frankfurt (EDDF).The only difference was that, the moment I throttled my engines up, ATC woke up and gave me directions to the nearest waypoint even when I was still on the ground.Funny because I didn't receive a phonecall from the 'officials' either.Luc BrusselmansBelgium

make a log file for me, so i can verify my idea. is this an add-on scenery? what is the magnetic variation at tnca? have you run the rebuild rc scenery data base?when this has happened in the past, the scenery designer missed the mag var, or reversed it, or made the runway heading true not magnetic, or vice versa.instructions pinned at the top of the forum to make a .log.you can get around this, until we figure it out, by lineing up on a heading that is the amount of magnetic variation from the runway heading.jd

I will make you a log file as soon as I have the opportunity and hopefully the problem will be recreated. I do not have add-on sceneries and the magnetic variation at TNCA is 11* West. The rebuild RC scenery database was run when I had first installed RC.Zach

True north + 11 = magnetic heading.In r4.csv, there are two lines which have "TNCA" as follows:TNCA,0110,12.507363,-70.025040,60,111.740,8986,108.70,148,-8.000,12.504436,-70.012779,0,,TNCA,0290,12.501510,-70.000519,60,291.740,8986,0,148,-8.000,12.504436,-70.012779,0,,In a4.csv:TNCA, , 12.50444 ,-70.01278 , 8 , 60 , 8986Zach
