Fog layer in higher altitude...

Featured Replies

Hello,Version 406 is a great improvement... I have also recognized that you managed to handle the annoying fog layer disappearing when getting onto high altitudes. It is now getting slowly brighter instead of popping away as in former versions. But couldn't you leave the fog layer instead of remove it slowly? When 1 sm visibility is reported, then I aspect that I can't see the earth if I fly over this region in e.g. 5000ft.But now on ground the 1sm visibility is correct with ASA, but in higher altitudes I can still see the ground.Any chances to get this implemented?Or I`m wrong in a way? Maybe with false settings?

Hi,I don't think so because of the limitations of FS.Thanks,
Jim,Could you please revisit his questions above? I think you've missed what he's saying. I base that observation on the fact that even without ASA it's possible, and extrememy easy, to set and achieve visibility limitations of 1SM all the way up to 100,000 feet in FS2004. I just did it, right in the World/Weather.../Customized Weather/Advanced Weather dialog of FS9.Thanks,TIYCS

Hi Chis,Sure, in fact Damian and I were just chatting about this very issue before I came over here!Yes, you can set a single visibility layer and even the weather screen states that "There is only one visibility layer."You can do the same thing in AS, set the maximum visibility to some extreme low number, so we know a single layer can be done. But, do you want to fly in 5sm visibility at 30K? No, nobody does. But what about multiple layers of visibility? That is where we run into problems. What we are looking into is trying to implement a system where low level visibility is shown even when you are above it. Right now it is a limitation in FS based on it's graphics engine. I am not saying if or when it will be possible, but some thoughts and ideas are in place. Thanks!

Hmmm, that sounds very interesting!I'm not sure if this answers your question or not guenseli, but it sure raises some interesting possibilities nonetheless. Thanks Jim,TIYCS

Yes, that also answeres my question. Thanks that you have explained in that much more detailed way...Hopefully you get some tricking solution for that, then it would be a 150% perfect product Now its just 100% ;-)

This would be my idea, too, but of course I'm have no clue about programming and this is a naive idea...Otherwise maybe this could be a simple solution :( (as option for people who want)
