  1. That's simply not true. Yes, AS 16 is an improvement over ASN, but the real magic happens ONLY in combination with ASCA, which is able to inject textures based on the current weather during the flight. If you start under nice weather with some clouds and fly into some rain, ASCA will allow AS16 to exchange the cloud sets and the sky colours smoothly. You can, as I said, use REX clouds with AS16 and ASCA, but without ASCA it's just one texture set for the whole flight. And being able to use different sets makes a HUGE difference. Something you have to see yourself. No pics and no video can do this justice.
  2. Point is: For dynamic changes and reloads, you DO need ASCA. You can use REX through ASCA (just don't untick sky textures in the global automatic theme), but AS16 without ASCA is like a movie with just one frame :-)
  3. Everything from UK2000
  4. I have to chime in there. The more you use it, the more you get used to it (it DOES do things differently and you might be irritated enough to consider some of them to be bugs at first sight), the more you like it. My first six flights with it were unpleasant, all flights afterwards were very enjoyable. Yes, I was negatove towards PF3 after I bought it. This has changed. I deleted PFE from my SSD now, and I removed the Radar Contact shortcut from my desktop. This should tell you something.
  5. Flight No. 7 - fist full success. Ging from EDDT to EDBC with an ATR gave great experience and results. Just to let you know after all my negative experiences before. I'll keep you updated.
  6. One thing I found out is that your copilot completely ignores your descent settings when he's PIC and uses his own. I entered 1200 for the 737 to test things, he uses 2500 nevertheless. With his descent rate, things went well, would I have used the one I entered, I would have been way to high again when approaching. Can someone explain me the differences runway lengths make for the FP? BTW - I sent all logs as requested to the author. Let's see what happens.
  7. I completely agree. I had now six flights, not a single one successful at the point when I should start the ILS. I was either too high, to close, or ATC just stopped telling me what to do. I was pretty enthusiastic towards PF3, as I loved PFE, but the handling of the landing phase is much, much worse than in Radar Conctact. In fact, it's a major step backwards from PFE as well. :-(
  8. I'll try nine and will report back.
  9. I think one key issue with PF3 is that it makes you catch your ILS at 4 miles from touchdown per default. Which is crazy, isn't it? Normally, I start to descend on ILS 9 or 10 miles out. Why on earth is FAF distance set to 4 miles and FAF altitude to 3000 ASL?
  10. This is annoying, yes, but there is a dirty workaround. In your FS folder, you will find a folder called pf3_display. Open the only file in there after you have loaded your fp into PF3. It will tell you all frequencies. The only one that has to bee looked up later is the one for ILS, should you do such an approach.
  11. It does and it does nicely so.
  12. If there is a fs9.exe in there, delete it as well.
  13. Well, I downloaded the demo, and when I try to connect to P3D V3.1, PF3 crashes instantly without any further notice. Flightplan is valid, but it just crashes.
  14. Great news. I still love PFE3 for its immersion (and hate it for its inability to work with german regional settings). Can you confirm that I don't have to change the format for numbers anymore?
  15. There is a Justflight 767, but it has more issues than others (intransparent gauges)
  16. Thank you - and it seems they are at a loss, too :-)
  17. Yes, I did it with the EMT.
  18. And that would be which one, and where to get it? Thanks in advance. I found the one for the FMC, but not that for the gauges
  19. Is it Win 10? Because my gauges in Win10 don't show any numbers. I was able to patch the FMC, but the gauges don't work.
  20. Can someone point us to a place where we can download version 1.21 of sode? and which Aerosoft airport installer comes with it? So one could just do a repair install?
  21. That's about mine (I have a 680, though) and I am very happy with P3DV3. I can't max out everything, but it's enough eye candy to give me an immersive simming experience.
  22. I'll answer question 2: If you have a good PC (meaning upper middle class for gaming), go P3D. In version 3, it's compelling. I was tweaking for years in FSX, I am flying in P3D.
  23. You may assume a lot, but it couldn't be further from the truth, Wotan.
  24. Oh really? Why is it then there is a FSP for FSX:SE and a couple of updates within the last months?
  25. East of EDNY and west of EDMK there is a rift running through the ccontinent :-)
