May 6, 200917 yr Can someone help me here? I just downloaded and installed the PMDG MD 11 for FSX and a few liveries. I was hoping to start with the tutorial but the Menu bar "Add-Ons" does not include a PMDG menu. Obviously that is needed to follow the tutorial. How do I go about getting that to show up? All that does show is FSUIPC and In Cabin Browser. I did a search in this forum for Add-on but nothing shows. Thanks in advance Peter Coveney
May 6, 200917 yr If you are using Vista, try reinstalling with admin rights assigned to the installer so it can modify the MSFS menu bar. I am just guessing but I don't recall this coming up before (so says the guy with a short memory span). Be sure the installer successfully installs the C++ runtime library(ies). Dan Downs KCRP

I have just tried running the installer exe as Administrator and also turned off my virus protection as well. Unfortunately the result is still the same. I would not have a clue what to do next. How bl...dy frustrating! Can you elaborate on, " Be sure the installer successfully installs the C++ runtime library(ies).". I did not see a mention of that during the install anywhere. There is nothing in the FSX Modules folder relating to PMDG. I tried copying the options dll in there but that was just a wild guess. Thanks,Peter Coveney
May 6, 200917 yr During a good install, the installer requires you to first validate with your order id, email and password. Then it installs files, after which it should launch another installer that installs a microsoft C++ Visual runtime library (or libraries if you had 64b). When you reinstall the pmdg the runtime installer usually gives you a repair option instead of install since these are not removed by uninstall. If this isn't working then I recommend an email to pmdg support. Be sure you get an automatic response when you email them to verify they got your message. Dan Downs KCRP

Not too sure how I ended up at SP1 but I had been trying to solve some other FSX issues not related to PMDG. PC
