I'm just making some short hops to work on manual approaches. Is it possible with no flight plan just to have the AP follow a VOR radial? I can't seem to sort it out.Thanks,Eric

Put the frequency and radial in the nav/rad page (of the CDU) then select the VOR arm option (on the same CDU page), intercept the radial and have NAV and AUTOFLIGHT selected. Must be below 18000ft to track the VOR. VOR arm will appear on the FMA (then VOR LOC when it itercepts the radial IIRC).To be honest I have never tried this without a flight plan loaded so I don't know about that.

1. When it engages, the FMA is VOR1/2, not VOR LOC2. The FMC does not need to be set up for this to workPaul
