May 29, 200917 yr Hi Guys, I am currently looking for a new Pc that will allow me to run FSX really well. I currently have to make do with FS9 as my setup is quite old. I would like to future proof the new system as much as possible, but do not want to go down the road of overclocking as my computer knowledge is limited. I am currently looking at the I7 processors and depending how the money goes, either a 920 or 940. The question I want to ask is, should I go for a 1Tb conventional HD or a 150Gb velociraptor. What would be more beneficial bearing in mind the computer would be used almost exclusively fo FSX. Also I see that DDR3 memory comes in 1333 and 1600Mhz. Would I be wasting my hard earned cash on the 1600 with either of the above processors. Thanks in anticipation
May 29, 200917 yr Commercial Member The raptors are fast, but you will run out space very quickly if the 150GB drive is your only drive. if money is limited, i would spend it on a fast 1TB drive like the samsung spinpoint as you will have all the space you need there. If you can afford it, buy the raptor as well and use it solely for FSX, with the OS and everything else on the 1TB drive.
May 29, 200917 yr The raptors are fast, but you will run out space very quickly if the 150GB drive is your only drive. This is highly individual matter. I for example have the 150GB and consider it very sufficient with plenty of space left. I only buy very selective add-ons, have full ORBX, have no need for photo-real scenery and get only a few of the best aircraft. I like to keep my FSX world simple. Michael J.
