June 6, 200917 yr I remember seeing something like that in a "gazette" (air law) book where i work. Where some requirement during refueling is that no engines are running (except APU), no engines are to be started, no smoking of course, and other stuff like, not connecting or removing external power, installing or uninstalling batteries and stuff like that.so i guess its a built in safety feature. June 6, 200916 yr It's indeed not smart to switch main electrical power sources during refuelling. But there is no system logic preventing this, so starting the APU should be possible if you want to.Also Eng2 /Air to Pack2 does not prevent an APU start. (eg. during taxi-in.)Regards,HarryI might agree with the Eng2/Pack2 being unrelated, but it's deftinatley the case that the PMDG MD11 in FS9 will not start the APU while refuelling (via the FMC/Menu/Refuelling menu).Trent Trent Hopkinson, 2015 Crewmember of www.mangrove.com.au WorldFlight sim Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/musicalaviator

I was going through my preflight procedures for the first time in about 5 weeks out of the sim and forgot to start my APU before refueling, sure enough it spooled up but refused to light-off.You've got to love the way this aircraft throws little surprises at you like this every now and then!
