June 4, 200916 yr DJ-Didn't Wilco/FT stop providing support for the Airbus a while ago? I don't own it but I thought I remembered that because it caused a big to-do.
June 4, 200916 yr DJ-Didn't Wilco/FT stop providing support for the Airbus a while ago? I don't own it but I thought I remembered that because it caused a big to-do.That's why it's unofficial. Rocky walked away from the Bus product. You can still get some input from Scoob and other users, and the old forums have a mass of information it you take the time to sift through it. Apparently FT contracts with Wilco to develop the product and then provides support for a limited time - in the case of the Bus, since the dev walked, they didn't have much choice but to give it up. I think it's a lousy way to do business, but I've really enjoyed some of their other products.DJ

Since I don't (yet at least, I'm considering it :( ) own it I never really kept up with that stuff and I guess I didn't realize the difference. I thought they just put the WHOLE thing under the guillotine. I don't even know who Rocky is... Thanks for the explanation!
June 5, 200916 yr Just to weigh in here...The A320 line is pretty close to being completed. Some functions are not implemented, while others are a little buggy. Be warned that - in my experience - Wilco/Feelthere rarely finishes their products, and they are completely unapologetic about it. They do release update after update, and get agonizingly close to fixing things, but never seem to arrive at a complete product. The worst thing of all is their documentation; performance charts are either partial, erroneous or completely missing. Often they'll release one set of charts for a whole line (like an A340-200 chart, when the package also includes the -300 and -600). You can nag them on their forum, but when they answer they'll tell you it's not their fault - it's Wilco. You have to contact Wilco through an online form, and you'll receive a reply - one that always promises that they're 'working on it', but rarely do they deliver. My experience here is with the A320 (-18,-19, -21), the E-Jets and (way back when) the CRJ. I've tried the A330-A340 on someone else's rig and it was so bad I stayed away from it (he gave up and removed it), although there are new patches available. (I'll say 'so bad' when it comes to the flight model, at least)The 'forum' is - in my opinion - and hit and (largely) miss proposition. I always find that I'm somehow imposing by asking a question. And when you have a valid technical beef, they pass you off to Wilco support. I think I'm not alone in my opinion when I say that the overall Wilco/Feelthere support is a complete nightmare. On the positive side, they do put out a lot of potentially interesting product, and you would get a lot of value for your money if it would work properly (and have the correct charts, etc.)My money will no longer go to them. I'm not outraged - just unsatisfied. Some people, however, seem relatively happy with their Wilco/Feelthere products. Just bear in mind you're not going to receive a completely accurate or finished product.
June 6, 200916 yr Yeah I have the ERJ and it's ok. I got it early on in my flight simming and got good use out of it. These days it's not really for me... I think the Airbus series seems like such a fun aircraft to fly and would love to get it, but I just think some of the things might be show-stoppers for me. I sent you a PM, crash.
