Hello all, I'm a big fan of the forum for Educational purposes but never actually posted anything on here. So here I go, my first one. I'm planning on having a custom build CPU and im looking for some advise from the experts. Here are the specs. Gigabyte GA-EX58 UD4P MotherboardIntel I7-965 Quad core processor extreme editionAntec True 1000 Power supply Corsair 6Gig Ram Memory 2 Hitachi 500G hard disk drive( I'm assuming this is 1 terobyte)Samsung DVD-RWPioneer Blu-Ray DVD-RWCreative Labs X-FI Titanium Sound crad 7.1OEM vista Home PremiumNvidia GeForce GTX275 896MB GDDR3Two VIZIO 32" 10A LCDFHDTV I guess my questions are1. would I be able to run FSX with add on scenery and PMDG 747/MD11, level D 767 with no stutters?2. Would I be able to max out all the scenery and still get very good frame rates? If any experts have any suggestions on what would work better it would be greatly appreciated.I'm currently an fs9 lover so fsx would be a new experience for me. Thank You Jairo Almonte

Hi,Sure you can, you just have to take the time to set everything up and find a balance that gives you a good mix of performance and graphic quality. The link below will take you to an installation instruction document from Nick that will get you through most of the setup, all thats left is for you to fine tune it to your system.http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041

I am curious about something, a TV is not a monitor, will the Vizio TV's be as good as two 32" monitors or will they be burry?I don't really know.....just asking.

MAKE SURE TO GET VISTA 64 OR ANY 64BIT microsoft OS of your choice, Very imortant for Ram. So you can see 6 gig ram. 32bit OS only sees 3.2 gigsWhy not add a few dollars and go for gtx 285 instead, you are already going for 275.I would recomend you take a long term view to Nicks tweaks, so install FSx and addons, see it runs, before tweaking anything at all. Then when tweaking, only use what you think might help, not just the whole lot. For example my PC is much more stutter free running on two cores (i7920) for FSx, than with FPs limiter. Good thing you are going for Gigabye mother board, the Bios is very easy for increasing your CPU speed, but this is something you will want to look at after FSX is installed but possibly before addons.Installation of FSX and addons should be on seperate drive from your OS if you can afford it, then one day when you got time, you can you ultimate defrag or O&O defrag to put FSX\Scenery folder on edge of your disk. Cause FSx\scenery is where 90% disk activity is reading from when in FSX.You will need gamebootser, with this tool you dont need to mess around with windows services you feel might slow down FSx, cause GameBooster will help you shutdown all that vista fat before you start siming. google for free download location. New version works great. Defraging works best for FSX when its own its own drive, so try to get FSX + addons a dedicated drive. Measure 3 times for each cut, Try to fly more often than you tweak, cause you never know when those overlaping tweaks become the problem. So dont tweak anything till FSX and addons are tested. After installing FSx on my new i7920 rig, and made some flights, then i started to mess about with the CPU speed, increasing it by 5 each time till i got stable. I tested my OC not with Prime95, but with a PMDG fsx saved flight, cause FSX is less demanding than prime95. My current OC of [email protected] crashes in prime95, but FSX not with FSx. So i might suggest using FSX to test your OC. If FSx is the most demanding thing you are likelly to use the PC for.No matter what anybody else says, my FSX is much more smoother using only 2 cores of my i7920 with no loss of display quality affinitymask = 12. If you have stutters that wount go away no matter what you do, then this is a garuanteed way to imrpove things. On my system atleast.DONT INSTALL FSX UNDER PROGRAM FILES IN VISTA, BETTER TO INSTALL FSX ON SEPERATE DRIVE, many have had issues with vista security crap getting in the way of FSX, but i installed FSx on seperate drive, and not a sinlge issue in that area for me.for me Drive C: Vista64 and otherwindows stuff 250Gig HDD Drive D: FSX + Addons 300 gig raptor drive (my FSX scenery folder is laced on edge of this drive using UltimateDefrag) Drive E Storage 1 terabyte HDD Try to fly more often than you tweak.

Thanks for the Info I will test it before adding the scenery and after, before the tweaks. The Comp should start getting build either Mon 6/08 or Tues 6/09. If anyone has any other advise before then let me know so I can make the changes prior to her getting completed. But, I'm going to purchase all the parts on Mon 6/08. Yes it will be 64 Bit OS. ( Microsoft OEM Vista Home Premium)Thanks for all the info again. Jairo

After some discussions and research this will be my final setup. Gigabyte GA-EX58 UD4P motherboardIntel i7 965 Quad core Processor. (from the 975)Antec True power 1000 power supply. Corsair 6Gig Memory2 Terobytes of memory( From 1 Terobyte)Creative Labs X-FI Titanium sound card 7.1FSX- acceleration packOEM Vista Home premium 64BitNvidia GeForce GTX 285 1024MB GDDR3 (from the 275)I'm hoping this may be enough to run FSX the way I would like to.Let me know what you folks think.
